Swordfish blood for Staff of the Magi

I've been trying to complete the Staff of the Magi quest (Level 55 mage summon given out by NPC at top floor of Erudin Library) and have hit a snag on the swordfish blood drop.

I spent many hours in Siren's Grotto the other day and killed over 100 guardian and coldwater swordfish, enough to get three swordfish stingers drop as weapons for GMs comparing drop rates. No swordfish blood dropped.

I compared notes with someone who did the quest back a few months ago and they did get their blood drop in Siren's Grotto and they don't remember it being a terribly rare drop - so am I killing the wrong type of swordfish in the place or is it just really, really rare?
 
I've gotten several from the fish in the mote surrounding the brugwar tower that's in the area through the underwater tunnel to the right of the entrance. Not terribly common, but not terribly rare either, maybe one ever other clearing. I *think* I have one still on Serp; I'll check tonight. If so, I'll try to make a trip to Shrouded for another dust and get a copy of the spell for you if the quest is repeatable (the resulting spell scroll wasn't no drop, so I'm hoping it is).
 
I've done the rounds of that moat multiple times but mostly the swordfish there were bugged so my pet couldn't see them and they wouldn't attack me. Seems to happen quite a bit in the water at Siren's Grotto, mostly when the mob is touching a wall or the surface.

I've got the dust and the parchment already, I'll try and hook up with you in game to work out a deal for the blood.
 
Last night I got another bone dust from shrouded, grabbed a wyvern hide from wf, but the merchant there wouldn't talk to me again and just handed the hide back if I gave it to him. I made a quick trip to Erudin and the staff of the magi quest giver wouldn't talk to me again either, so it looks like you can't do this quest more than once. :(

Try poping out of the water and casting. I've had this happen as well, but have always been able to find a way to aggro them.
 
This morning I logged in and the first guardian swordfish dropped blood, azure algae and a midnight pearl shard. I don't know if the drops were tweaked or not, but I've been able to complete the quest now.

This is what we call a "rare drop." I camped for hours and hours until my mage got the blood.
 
Just out of curiousity, would someone mind doing a write up of this quest for the Wikipedia? I have tons of trouble finding anything relavent in-game and also have no clue where to begin (other than erudin) for this quest.

Any help would be most appreciated.
