Surefall Faction Help

My wife plays a Wood Elf Ranger and she killed a Surefall tracker in Northern Badlands. She feels like an idiot for not making the connection with the names. She wants to keep playing that characeter, but can't buy spells in Surefall Glade due to now being dubious. Now she's afraid she'll have to start over on that character. I told her to hold off on such drastic measure and I'd try finding a way to fix the faction.

I worked all night tonight trying to fix it using ideas from the Wiki and searching the forums. I've killed plague priests in Underhill, but they either no longer or never did give positive faction to any Surefall factions. I did kill Rotbringer and turn his head in for the faction, but I can't turn his head in again. I tried killing the poachers in Centaur Hills, but they didn't give any faction hits. Giving berries to the Halfling in Surefall doesn't work either as he returns them. Most of the quests from Surefall have been done on this character as well.

So, I've run out of ideas. If she doesn't start a new character, I have a sinking feeling that my druid is going to be doing a lot of spell buying in the future.

If those are the evil gnomes under the church, yes, they used to give +Surefall faction. Have you tried charming the turn in mob for some faction quests and seeing if that will work?

The faction must have been changed then. :(

We don't have a way of charming the turn-in NPCs. Neither one of us plays an enchanter nor do we have any enchanter friends. So, unfortunately, that path is out.

use a different toon to buy the spells might be your only choice for the time being unless you want to go start mass killing the mobs in newport sewers (Need to be high level)

Looks like my druid is going to be running more errands for the little lady. Her original hope upon hearing that Kelethin was populated again was a Ranger guild there. The lack of one there spurred my attempts tonight. Oh well, she'll still bed crossing her fingers for a Ranger guild in Kelethin.

Killing Rotbringer gives surefall faction. So if she kills him A LOT, this might fix her faction so that people deal with her once more.

I suppose there will eventually be all supplies available in Kelethin, it's still under reconstruction right ?

I killed him and didn't get any Surefall faction.

there used to be a quest there that you hand in some foraged berries i think, i'm not 100% sure that it adds a faction hit thou... its one of the druid trainers if i recall

Yes the boppit halfling in the druid gm section accepts them but if your kos with them you may be sol.

Luas has told me a few times ingame that slaying the necromancer guild under newport is good for this.

Using sneak behind an NPC makes it indifferent so just sneak up behind the merchant to buy spells.

I'm pretty sure this was changed. Merchants don't care if you're sneaking or hiding or what, you still can't buy from them if you're dubious or lower. It makes rogues and monks cry.

This definitely no longer works for merchants as I tried it.

As mentioned in my OP, I already tried. It doesn't work.

I'd take her down there to do this, but she's only level 31. As for using my character to do the killing while she beats on the baddies, my highest level character is a Necromancer and I rather like being able to use my port necklace with him. Also, my brother's main is a Shadowknight who also like the dank sewers. So unless I can get someone else to do the killing, this won't be an option for a while.

This is unfortunate. As a gnome, I'm duibious to surefall too, and I've never done anything to damage my faction there as far as I know.

I wish there were ways to up faction for these and the various caster guilds too but there aren't. I'd even turn in 300 bags of bat wings 4 at a time if I had to.
