Does anyone else play this? if so what characters do you use? I play Shiek, Falco and Mewtwo I also play a decent Ness. My favorite stage is Final Destination

I almost always play Roy(Marth isn't better, darn it!), and play Mewtwo occasionally as well. I've gotten my total Break the Target time down to <7:30 recently, and my favorite stage is probably Hyrule castle.

Marth is the better character than Roy. Maybe you can play him better, but looking at simply character stats, Marth blows Roy out of the water. Marth is probably the 3rd best character in the game, and definitely the easiest to pick up. Any noob can get a lucky tipper. This doesn't mean he's totally overpowered, however. Fox, Peach, and Sheik are all really good matchups for him.

Sheik, Fox, Samus, and Peach. (I know Samus isn't all that awesome, but I like her floaty style jumps)

I love samus. Mainly for her spam bombs and missles but eh. I used to main Jiggs but now she is kind of lacking...

i play this game religiously lol. i play with sheik, peach, and luigi but i prefer Link. Link is actually good if you know how to make his attacks connect

Captain Falcon and Ganondorf are my characters (switching between them depending on who I'm playing, Falcon is faster, Ganon is stronger : )) I like The Temple from Zelda the best.

For months and months all I had from day to day was my cube, two controllers, melee and one of my best buds. We played alot.

He is awesome with Falco and Roy, but I prefer Link.

I'll admit it; as a ranged figher he is lacking, and his most damaging melee blows fall right behind a smash-style blow in a combo making his best damage-dealing attacks usually unintentional ones or botches altogether limiting his close-range damage dealing power. But if you know how to land his blows right he can be a force to be reckoned with.

Oh and not to mention: No one ever suspects the boomerang. Word to other Link players - Mastery of that shit can have you on top alot of the time. When people show you their movement patterns you can fully rely on having the boomerang there first providing just enough of an action interrupt to secure your Master Sword right between your opponent and their success =D

The N64 version was my college's game of choice. I'm pretty sure me and my friends are the best players in the world at that game. I primarily play Kirby, and Ness is pretty good in that one, but Pikachu is hands down the best character I'd say.

I can't stand the X-Box controller, and I've played that version and there's too much shit going on for me. It didn't help that the first time i played I played on the F-Zero level where the level basically attacks you and moves around and I was trying to figure out how to jump.

My dad can beat up your dad.

Also the 64 version was broken and fairly unbalanced. Melee was superior in that it had less "cheap" moves, or at least more ways to counter them.

.

Yes I exaggerate, but we played it enough that we had to justify it somehow. We played enough that most of the character's damage dealt and taken were maxed. Every so often I'd try to beat them playing Jigglypuff and win.

I agree there are some cheap combos, especially involving what we called Ness's "DangerCombo" which involved him slamming a guy into the ground, then catching him again as he bounces back up and slamming him down again. Unless you timed your roll perfectly it was impossible to get out until you were at a too high % that you'd bounce higher than Ness.

However I usually countered Ness by simply getting Ness off the edge and then flying into his PK Thunder so he wouln't be blasted back to safety, and instead fall harmlessly to his death.

We also made up a type of "mini" game that we dubbed "Little Kirby's," where you and a friend are on one team, and you fight against 2 level 1 computer Kirby's. Only the most destructive items were allowed such as green and red shells, bombs, and sensor bombs. Also, those bomper things were allowed as well. We usually played with around 10-15 lives. The point was to see who could get the most kills. The best part though, was that with the items you could kill your parter as well and get bonus kills, so often you'd see your "teammate" meleeing another Kirby, throw a bomb at him, and the explosion would kill both of them. Bompers are amazing for killing your teammate as well, usually by throwing them downwards while your friend was over the edge. You'd often find yourself suciciding to get a kill, especially with Kirby's "cutter" B Move. We usually played on Kirby's Dreamland, but I think they just made it Little Kirby's to spite me :(

Best game ever, imo.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Maybe it's been mentioned but the Nintendo Wii is going to sport a new Smash game with new starts ( Warrior, Solid Snake to name a couple) and many other features that I can't remember cause I'm so in awe of a new Smash game....

I peed my pants a little when I saw that video. Too bad it won't be launching with the system. Oddly enough, up until last christmas, I didn't have a gaming console at all except my initial NES and SNES. My mom bought me a GC cause she was running low on ideas for presents :p. And this Christmas, despite my previous lack of desire to purchase a "next-gen" console, I'm very much considering a Wii.
