State of the login server

First off I'd like to say I don't mean when it crashes or the server itself crashes.

In the past 2 weeks or so there has been a massive increase in the number of 1017's and client crashes when trying to login to the character select screen, it would not be an exaggeration to say that 1017/client crashes have become more common than an actual successful login.

What has changed with the login server fairly recently that could have caused it to become so unreliable? This is not simply isolated to myself, my entire guild has been experiencing this.

Before anyone asks, yes I run the patch program frequently to check for updates, this isn't caused by a client that hasn't recently been patched.

Absolutely nothing. The only possible explanation I can think of is net issues on iweb's side.

I notice that if I have azureus or any other file sharing type programs open when I try to log into SoD I get client crashes far more often than if SoD is the only thing running. In fact when I first started playing SoD I couldn't log in at all no matter what if I had a file sharing program open.

+1 on the more frequent 1017 & crashes.
Don't think much can be done though, lets bear with it.

Yea, in the last hour I have tried to log on 50+ times, with one successfull attempt. When I finally got on lag was pretty bad and I was disconnected shortly. I am on cable intenet and have my firewall and antivirus turned off, not to mention it has never been a problem before, and there is still no success.

Hopefully what ever is wrong is corrected fairly quick. I want to play :(

+1 on the more frequent client crashes.

It acts like a transition problem from the Login Server to the World Server. (not saying that it is).

But yeah the dreaded eqgame.exe has pooped the bed, and back to the patcher you go, has increased I'd say 50%.

It makes me wish I had chosen a shorter password :)
