Starting stats for new people

Recently ive been seeing a lot of posts of "will i ruin my character if i put my stat points into ___". the short answer is NO, because as you progress you will get items, AAs and charms that increase all your stats. keep in mind though that if youre a caster/priest you wont necessarily be able to cap out things like str/sta until the very high end (if at all), but as a caster you shouldnt be too worried about that at all, because you get buffs that give 80str/sta so thatll bring you close enough to the cap not to matter.

id also like to post a link that might help get you oriented and see where youd like to spend your stats if you plan to go to the very end.

keep in mind this is a game that takes time and A LOT of it, so you will not be seeing the items in these top 5 lists for a while, unless you join a guild that allows you to jump a lot of tiers. but it does give a clearer picture of what kind of strengths/weaknesses your char might have when hes at that gear level. i for one used this list when rolling my rogue =)

good luck, enjoy and welcome to the server

right, forgot to add. stats cap is 280 before heroic power AAs, 305 after. and 485 after hidden str aas. stats above 305 give 1/3 of benefit per point as stats below 305

This is all true, but putting starting stats into certain areas can make game play more pleasant. Low CHA on an offensive caster is miserable and items with lots of it don't come until much later. Having 65 cha can make solo play frustrating or damn near impossible, and further make your utility in a group seem non-existent.

In fact if someone reading this has 65 cha on a offensive caster @level 10, I suggest that the time spent re-rolling is trivial and you will happier doing so. If the character is over 30, you will want to itemize for cha over all else ( if you don't already ) and /powerthrough. Look at items like trade skill gear jewelry and other inexpensive items for quick stats fixes.
