Stamina draining styles and combat

Now that we have clearly defined rules for being in combat would it be possible to make styles that drain sta only do so while in combat.

For example if i put khalid in /s 5 and was beating on some undead and they died with him at 60% stamina I would no longer need to go to /s 3 then back to /s 5 again when in combat, because when I was out I was still prepared with /s 5 but not actually fighting.

It wouldnt have to apply to the ones that exhaust you though

It'd be a nice touch to add...
 
I think I actually like this idea too. Since combat/non-combat is already a clear distinction, it shouldn't be too hard to implement provided Wiz approves of it.
 
I like this idea too. What'd make it even better would be if rangers got some 2hs styles, or, just about any useful ones*... (Can't remember the last time I wasn't /s 2 or /s 3...)

*Not counting archery ones... but who uses those?

Er.. anyway, yeah, nice idea.

Yup. /s 4 is for emergency tanking. /s 6 is dire emergency tanking. /s 5 is useless after AA's.

I like the idea though, and from a Ranger, being in /s 8 (Trueshot), it'd be nice to just have it on for a little while, without having to keep switching back and forth between mobs.
 
(disclaimer: I haven't even had the time to reach level 10, so all of the following is based on theoretical knowledge of the game rather than practical. Please correct me if I'm wrong.)

Some styles would have to be adjusted though. Isn't there a (I think) Warrior style that allows them to reduce any damage taken to 1hp, with the offset of dying once their sta is drained? Right now it is indeed a tool for last stands (the style's named Last Stand, if I remember right), but with that proposed change, it would in effect make Warriors more or less invincible in many group situations. You'd have to make stamina drain very quickly to not make it overpowered, in which case it would lower its "true" value (that of buying time when things go very very bad). Unless you could make some styles drain stamina all the time and some not...

Final Stand lasts probably 10 -15 seconds at the most, it can hardly be used in normal XP groups.

it is final stand and i dont bleliev it would make us invisile as the style drains STA at an incomprehesibly fast rate,i have never beeen able to mantain it for more than 30 sec at the far out side, though it may be diferent for some of the "biger" warriors. then again i am sure someone would find some puput way of exploiting this...thought not sure how...just my 2CP
 
There's always get someone scrambling to point out a hole and look smart without reading properly first /sigh

Sorry about that. I didn't mean to try and sound smart; in fact, I've been holding out on posting my replies for several days because I had the feeling something was not right with it. Guess it's a case of major, days-long brain fart.
