sro files not found

Hey guys,

I have a weird issue. I took my character out of Grobb and was running to what would be South Ro. As soon as I get the splash screen, the client shuts down and says it can't find the "sro" file. Thinking this was a map issue, I went ahead and downloaded the maps folder again and applied it. I got the same result.

So then I figured that it was an issue with the client. I redownloaded Platinum from (that particular company) and reapplied the files, ran the patch program, logged in the character, and I still got kicked.

I logged the character in on another computer and was able to rescue them. So the files seem okay there. They are perfectly fine in any other zone, but I'm afraid this has surpassed my meager troubleshooting skills. One thing I will try when I get home is to copy the entire game folder over to the other computer and see if that fixes the issue. If not, I'm at a loss.

Have you seen or heard of anything like this before?

Is the old SRO map in there? If not you will just keep getting your problem. You need the old SRO map files, not the new ones.. so you might be updating them when you install your "Platinum" expansion's'

Platinum should have the old files. That's the install I'm using. I believe they didn't change until after that.

If he's installing an expansion after Platinum, that's probably the issue. Platinum uses the old files. At least my versions do. /shrug
 
I gave away all my old EQ CDs to my ex, so I had to re-download Platinum all in one shot, so it definitely wasn't an upgrade. I still haven't had a chance to just copy the files over. That's the next step for sure. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
 
I'm receiving the same messege and I was wondering how to correct it step by step because i'm still new to the game and don't know much about the tech stuff.
