spell effect problem

I am using the standard UI and am having trouble shutting off other players spell effects. When I use Alt-o and use the slider that is labled show for, I set it to me and NPC but its high lighted in red and still shows everyones spell effects. I can shut them off completely by turning off particle density completely but this isn't practical. Is there some way around this where i can leave Npc and only my spell effects on and Others off.( possibly a typed command or EQclient.ini line edit ) I'm not sure if this is a UI bug, If it is , Is there another UI i should be using as the Default.

Thank you for any assistance you can provide in this matter.

I know for a fact EQWindows can affect some of the sliders in options such as gamma, or atleast it did on my machine.

If you are using EQWindwos try turning it off, logging in, adjusting your spell particle to where you want it, then restarding SoD with EQWindows turned back on.

I dont use eqwindows so it isnt that. It's not a slider like gamma but a drop down menu that allows you to select which spells are shown IE group and npc , raid and npc, all, or me and npc. Thanks for your reply though. I'm using the default ui with windows xp home. I tried the link to the new default ui , in case it's a ui problem but the link doesn't work. I'm sure there has to be some type of eqclient .ini that will allow me to choose the option to show only my spells and npc spells, If there wasn't then i doubt it could be saved as an option in ui.

Anyone else have any ideas? As always thanks for any time and attention you can give this matter

Try going into your eqclient.ini and tweaking these settings:

ParticleDensity=1
ShowSpellEffects=0
SpellParticleDensity=1.000000
SpellParticleOpacity=1.000000
SpellParticleNearClipPlane=2.000000

I'm not sure if there is a way to turn off others spell effects without turning off your own as well.

Just go into your ingame filters(alt + o, filters) and select PC Spells, then choose Off. Now you will only notice your spells and NPC spells. Furthermore other PC spell text will be removed from your chat windows.
