Spell drop rates.

Fresh level 60-65 players on SoD have basically no chance to obtain there full regular spells from 61-65. Many spells are beyond the reach of new players in costs or simply are not for sale.

I propose that these spells drop much more often and in more places, due to a simple belief that nobody should have to wait months for level 60-65 spells and IMHO should not have to pay several thousand plat for these spells either (that's if it's even for sale at all and a good chuck of them never are currently) for a spell that is pre-raid content.

A toon with all regular level 65 and below spells is a happy start for that post-65-ding that lasts forever, it's already hard enough to be a new level 65, please considering making spell drops more common so that new healers/buffers/dpsers can do their job a little better.

Population plays a huge roll in 60+ spell availability, but I got my spells for 3 characters sometime in the last year (shaman, cleric, paladin.) Most spells cost 200ppish on list sold, but some were 10k (cleric + crit heal spell...)

I checked list sold like a madman. I also checked the popular vendors in Sadri and Athica. If you are having a tough time finding a spell, post in WTB on the forum section.

Honestly, getting dropped spells as a new guy is not too bad if you work for it a little bit.

Check the Athica NPC Vendors for cheap spells.
They also arent exactly rare, even mobs *blue* to 55 drop spells (Minos in Lasanth for example).

I think he might be referring to spells that only drop off trash in raid zones like plane of nightmare, water, etc. If those zones are being raided less often due to population like suggested in the reply above (no clue if that's the case, does anyone raid those places?), then supply goes down. Definitely a seller's market... I farmed a lot of kobold furs in sorcerors lab to buy my spell! Builds character I think.

Because of the pure lack of people going into zones that drop 61-54 spells apparently though a lot of spells are not even for sale. If a spell is for sale should it really have to cost 5k because there is only 1 copy on the entire server for sale?

Kedrin had a good idea that would still make obtaining the spells goal oriented. That said, it would hurt the economy a bit as some people do list sold spells.

Until things change, check list sold, check athica/sadri vendors, and go xp in the zones where your spells drop. It isn't as bad as EQ live was pre-luclin...

much lower population these days + spells dont drop in ikisith = not many spells available. honestly, your best bet might be to farm catacombs if you need a 63+ spell

Having just hit 65 myself and scouring listsold for spells, I'd echo concerns over their availability... I'm actually not up on what drops them versus what doesnt (really what new 65 is?) however if there are direct issues with new content not dropping them and older content not being done nearly as much (or low tier raid content dropping it but not being done much) then it would seem like it would be worth checking into.

Not saying they should be dumped in your lap when you hit 65 but there are already significant barriers to doing stuff as a fresh 65 that not having necessary spells (mezzes and heals come to mind as an enchanter/dru) to do your job properly in a group simply compounds it.

not sure if others think the same way i do but.. aside from a very select few spells its a pain to try to sell spells and they just get vendored.

The lore. Ikisith is way out in Kaezul's country, where none of our gods or magics really hold sway.

I really do love lore when it is used to explain why something is more tedious and less fun then it has to be. Oh wait, I don't like that at all.

So with the same logic: None of our "old world" spells should work in Ikisith. Deity specialization bonus should also not work, being so far away from our gods and all. What about all the magic that was used to bless or enhance the gear we all use, should that also no longer work?

How can this lore excuse only be used on such a small thing that really only hurts new people in the game?

I don't think this case has to do with lore, more of an unintentional symptom of a rotating door developer team. Nobody is ever on the same page over any span of time. If you try to super glue fragments of a game together that have chipped away over the years, certain aspects of the overall picture fall through the cracks.

The real reason is that all those iksars in ikisith are illiterate fools and use those spell scrolls as toilet paper.
