Sound issues

I have been playing SoD for about a week now, its been running fine up until a couple days ago. I can no longer hear any sound effects (footsteps, doors, spell casting, mob noises etc.) The music works as well as environmental sounds.

I am receiving no error messages of any sort, I have tried running it in both windowed and regular mode and it hasn't made a difference I am not running any other programs. I am running Windows XP, EQ Playnice, I updated my drivers on my video card after I noticed the problem, haven't made any tweaks to any sound controls on my PC

Any ideas on where to start?

If you mean the in game sound options, I've tried that, I can turn off the environmental sound, music and adjust the levels but I still can't hear any sound effects.

Do you hear the music when you go into combat?

Dunno if it affects sound effects such as doors and footsteps or not, but try /combatmusic on

I have sound checked off in the login menu, /combatmusic on hasn't made a difference either :/

If you've tried playing with the "sound realism" and "sound volume" sliders, you could maybe try downloading the latest driver for your sound card or onboard sound chip. That might reset something. If all else failed you could always reinstall the game completely but there may be a way of fixing it without having to do that.

You had it working at one point and then it mysteriously stopped.

Are you absolutely sure you hadn't made any changes to your settings or drivers before it stopped working?

I dont recall making any changes before the sound effects went screwy. I updated my video card soon after. As far as any other any other changhes I cannot recall
