SOPA and PIPA

Yeah. I don't know what to do about this. Maybe a Constitutional Convention of state governors to amend the constitution into declaring that all US legislators are part-time only, limiting terms to 2-4 (you pick) and capping pay and benefits to only extend to 1/2 time served?

How feasible would that be?

I agree the budget needs to be cut but congress's entitlements are the worst of the lot.

If only we could rally the US to do something about this :( Its really stupid how senators/representatives can make fucking BANK from getting voted in. Means they want to become senators/reps just so they can get money, which is what leads to the gov't being corrupt. But nothing can really be done about it, because nobody would vote for a bill to cut their own pay by a LARGE margin. So you end up with a big circular problem ending with THE DESTRUCTION OF THE WORLDDDDD!!!

Amen Sistah...If only the Distinguished and Honorable Gentlemen would be distinguished or honorable enough to return congretional service to being a public service instead of a career or a back door to manipulate their stock portfolios. *sigh*

I think term limits are a great answer, as well as not paying anyone to do it. Let them serve their terms then get back to work. There's an arguement to be made that if legislators aren't compensated it will make them more likely to accept bribes. Honestly I don't think it's possible for bribing a congressman to be any more likely than it is already.

The closest we have to people who would are as follows:

(1) Former Georgia Representative Nathan Deal (now Governor of Georgia), who proposed in 2010-2011 that Congressional pay be cut either 5 or 10 percent each year Congress runs a deficit (and negates any Congressional pay increases from the last year). There are 3 Representatives still in Congress that co-sponsored this bill: Ron Paul of Texas, Phil Gingrey of Georgia, and Lynn Westmoreland of Georgia. The later two get credit as well for working with him. As for the Texas representative,

(2) Ron Paul. Although he backed the bill mentioned previously, his own sponsored legislation would call for the decrease of Congressional pay by the rate of inflation. Also, he has stated that the salary he would receive as President (should he be elected) would be $39,336, the then-current median personal income of the average American worker. This is more than 90% below the current Presidential salary.

I never understood why the president needed a salary anyway. I wonder when the last time was that obama pulled out his mastercard and actually paid for something.

I'll bet he doesn't even pay for his smokes.
