Sodbin.exe Application Error

Hey guys,

I've been trying to get into SoD and I'm running into a problem with the patcher - one that I haven't seen posted anywhere else here. When I first got it, it told me that I was missing a certain .dll file (using Windows ME), so I downloaded that file from a place that looked good online. Next, it said some other error message, and I read that I should update the .net stuff (the error was related to Windows, not SoD I believe)...

Now, when I try to patch, I'm getting -

SODBIN.EXE Application Error
Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.

Process ID=0xfff4da17(-730601), Thread ID=0xfff06533(-1022669),

Ok to terminate, Cancel to debug

I downloaded that patch manually and got EQW from the website, so I can log into SoD; I just figured it'd probably be good to try and get this figured out.

Thanks

So actually, I can't log into SoD now. The EQW version I downloaded is trying to throw me into EQLive even though I'm selecting the SoD server from the server list (only one there). Any insight on the nature of this issue would be most appreciated.

Did you uncheck the "Run Patch Program" box (in the EQW beta 2.35a screen) after patching to live? If not, you will keep getting sent to live.

Aye, I did, because I was guessing that with the SoD patch files manually applied that EQW would then bypass everything and just take me straight to SoD, and it does until I hit the part to connect to the SoD realm... from there, it actually opens up a new window titled "Everquest" (EQ for short... not sure why it's coming up as "Game"), it goes through the loading, and then it comes up with a client crash.

I should note, though, that I'm using EQW 2.47, the last one released. When I run SoD Patcher, I don't get far enough in the patcher for it to come up with the EQW prompt. If there was a way to download EQW 2.35a that might help, not sure

Problem fixed... I downloaded the .net v1.1 (or whichever one is listed on this site) and installed it. To begin with, I had the newer one, which doesn't seem compatible with SoD.

Haven't got to test much, but the patcher did work and I was able to get into the game :)
