SoD + ventrilo

so, i've been using ventrilo for a long time. but ive always been able to get it working on both my old computer(xp) and my laptop(vista).

until recently*on my laptop* i cant use ventrilo while playing sod. i cant press my push to talk button unless i alt tab out of sod, and then have to alt tab back*which just leads to key board bug*, and its extremely laggy and produces loud static.

the only time it runs great is when im not in SoD. it was working fine until i had to upgrade my ventrilo version.

1) has anyone else had this issue?
2) does anyone know how to fix it??!!

Yes, but my issue started as soon as I installed Vista on my computers. Perhaps the reasoning is the updated version and Vista not being compatible (I don't know because I had the updated version on my computers when it was previously using XP). Someone else mentioned the same issue, I believe it was Aisling, in a recent thread regarding Vista and SoD's compatibility.

so its EQw thats the cause?

i guess that would make sense, concidering it happened around the time i couldnt get sod running w/o EQw, so i had to starting running eqw.


i'll have to test run it soon, thanks jay :D
 
well i can defiantly say that it didnt work what so ever. the only change was the static didnt happen in game but when i alt tabbed out to speak : (
 
Yea, not using eqw didn't work for me either. I ended up not using vent as much, and being forced to alt-tab out when I did (not to mention the countless times I pushed to talk and forgot to alt-tab out which resulted to me talking to myself and Dyank laughing atm me :mad: ).
 
Happened to me with XP and new Vent but I somehow fixed it.

Gotta check up settings I believe it was something there.

ok, so it looks like i fixed it.

anyways, heres what you do:

1) right click ventrilo
2) go to properties
3) click the "compatibility" tab
4) click the "run as administrator" box so it checks it

worked for me quite nicely :keke:
