SoD UIs

The new patch is very, very close to finishing its development. We are hoping to use the new patcher to set the default SoD UI (only if you click a "Use SoD UI" button) to a third party one instead of the horrendous live default UI.

This is the thread to post your suggestions! If the UI is your own make please be sure to include that!

Maimai posted it like 3 years ago, and the link is now broken for download.. ill have to zip it and post it if someone doesnt have a mirror. but its clean and minimalistic.

That was not only an extremely fast reply but it also is one that makes no suggestion.

Link? Explanation? Picture with a lolcat?

I think whatever is selected as the new default should be clean, tasteful, and easy to figure out/use for both old Live veterans and also players totally new to the game. Most importantly it should be functional; the default user interface is clunky and has aged worse than any other aspect of the game. I think if it defaulted to having extra chat windows already set up (seperating chat/battle) it would really help new players handle the gobs of information coming at them.

I'm a big fan of widescreen UIs where most of the functionality is in a strip across the bottom of the window. I really like how modern games show damage/hits just as a red/green number and I usually try to emulate this by setting all of my hits modes to hit/miss only and color them red/green.

The default interfaces all display way more information than is usually necessary, and I think limiting that information by default is a much better choice than the current default of displaying everything.

I use a hacked up version of the nemesis UI because I like it's clean textures and lack of the gaudy flare you might find in a WoW imitation UI.

A clean look with lots of functionality and organized information is definitely the way to go. To achieve the extra functionality you might make the socials page the default page of the actions window (instead of the relatively worthless who/inv/dis/camp/sit/walk window), and replace the terrible default socials with buttons that would actually be useful.

I tried to do all of that with my UI, so here's screenshot.

I believe this UI is called "SCUTCH" and was linked here on the forums long ago by Jadn (if my memory is correct). Obviously I've moved all of the boxes to where I want them, but I've always felt it is very clean, informative, and most importantly - functional.

To each his own though. I like it, others may not.
