sod patch help needed

hi all,im obviously new to this site,im just looking for some help with getting EQ to work,i have the game and its all installed.and ive done everything ive been told to..i run the patcher and it seems to get stuck on patching generalcommands.html.
ive left it running for around 30 minutes so far and still nothing happens..so could someone please tell me if this is just gonna take awhile,or if theres something else i can do.

ive just noticed something in the game dir..there are eqgame everquest and escape to norath icons..i just clicked escape to norath icon and it loaded up and is now updating/patching..should i have done this first before running sodpatcher?

No you shouldn't do that. Norton anti-virus software has been known to cause this issue.

seems to be working now..thanks alot,hope i dont get any other problems,i really wanna play this game again,aint played for years.
