sod being rediculously sluggish

i was kiting on my bard about 2 days ago when sod and the movie i was watching locked up, forcing me to restart my box. after the restart i havent been able to log into SOD at all, i can get past the patcher, although it takes upwards of 5 minutes to get to the eula screen. once i input my login and password i get a "cannot connect" message or it just fatal errors. and before anyone asks i am running the patcher straight from the directory like i always did, going to try reinstalling but if anyone has encountered this before please help.
 
any suggestions on how to fix the issue? the card runs HoN beta just fine and warcraft 3, cant imagine SoD being more demanding than those games.
 
actually i have noticed zone times were incressed the last few nights though this morning they seemed better.
