So when does the PVP week start?

I heard something that there will be a week of PVP on the server comming up. Not sure of the details, but it sounds very exciting.
 
As someone who's a huge fps fan ( just got done coming off a 3 game mvp streak in Tf2) I can't say i'm really excited about pvp with no balance. Sure it'll be fun for awhile, but than it'll be overshadowed by the classes that are better at pvp/lvl 65's, unless of course its level restricted. In that case :hmph: BRING IT
 
I haven't heard about any PVP week thing happening but I know I grow tired about people wanting it. It creates more drama than it's worth and I hope SoD never sees the day PVP is in full swing. It's a pretty good deal for games built around it like FPS but I really think PVP should talk a walk off a cliff when it comes to MMORPGs.

Now, this is coming from someone who has seen a little punk run across the SoD world, to MieC, deep in MieC, just to kill someone in my group who was flagged for PVP that they didn't like, so I might be bitter with my opinion. PVP is all good if it's your thing but when you're f'ing up my gaming experience because you have an epeen the size of Texas, I have a big problem with that. And I say to that, spare us, take your butt to WoW, or if you insist on playing SoD, keep your PVP crap in town instead of griefing others not with a PVP tag on them.

I really suggest PVP flags come to an end and put the arenas ingame to use but that's just me.
 
I agree with PvP not being needed as well. I have always seen PvP more in the sense of a duel, usually for fun when your just sitting around bored. I have never liked world PvP in a traditional MMO. It's fun once and a while in duels or the arena, but world PvP in a PvE game just ruins the fun of the game.

If you really think you can generate interest in serious PvP, then why not start a thread for a bit of a duel tournament? If you get enough people interested you might be able to make it a regular thing every week or so.
 
World pvp can be great but the idea of a "pvp week" would just be a griefest. (which is fun too Imo, but on a pve server I think there would be alot more unwilling participants that would be unhappy, not to mention that it wouldnt make sense reguarding the storyline for us to all of a sudden start to slaughter eachother)
Forcing a pvp ruleset on a server with groups and guilds that already well established through years of co-operation for pve goals would be pretty watered down and probably end up being somewhat boring and cause alot more grief for gms then it would be worth as there wouldnt be the typical period of chaos that gets tempered over time as factions form amongst the players that is usually experienced on a brand new pvp server, but rather a bunch of pre-formed guilds using the ruleset to temporarily hinder eachother's pve progression.

Of course if a bunch of us decide to flag up and go at it for a week or whatever, I'm down for that. (And I say this as a low lvl that would surely be nothing more then fodder for the hordes of higher levels)
And if "pvp week" is indeed something that is going to happen, hey thats fine too. It will at least be an interesting experiment.
 
Unless there is a way to opt out of it, a week of PvP would cause ALOT of people to not play for a week. Myself included. A week of half the server population gone...Fun...
 
Umm, there was never any talk about a PvP week, I think the OP is just, for lack of a better term, talking out their ass. The staff does not plan on doing a whole week of PvP or anything like that.
If players wanted to get a bunch of people to flag themselves PvP for a week there would be no objections, but the staff is not going to force people to do PvP.
