Smithing.

Bearing in mind that all tradeskills aren't meant to be easy, I wanted to draw attention to smithing.

Smithing post 205 becomes extremely difficult to gain stat points. The materials you need can only be mined, and the components for the tempers/molten cores have aren't exactly common either.

In comparison to tailoring, where the top armor lines require kedgewater, and either imp hides, or one of the 2 silks, you can usually get the materials to make a shiny new shadow silk tunic in, about 12 hours of farming, which can be done solo.

Compared to a deepmetal plate brestplate, where the ore is only mined in a extremely difficult high level dungeon, with aggro creatures everywhere, and at a mine rate of about 2 per hour... For a bp you need 9 (per attempt). Then stack on the costs of fire emeralds, fire opals, essences of fires, and lava dusts... you're running pretty expensive here.

So there's skill ups on ghostmetal... and warpmetal, but even those are about 2 ores per hour.

I understand, plate armor is coveted, and the stats are good on deepmetal, so it can't become common. My suggestion would be to implement quests that can be done in various cities, to repair guard's armors, or something of this sort. That can only be done periodically, and yeild no money gains, but potential skill ups.

Say, fix said guards armor 30 x times, and eventually the officers pay you to make them some armor? or something along this line? where the materials might be easier to get, provide possible skill ups, but you get no item as a result? sort of a trade off? will really help people get to GM smithing, because all of the other tradeskills are much easier to max.
