SK Racism?

So I'm getting ready to make a new SK. I'm torn between the Iksar, Ogre, and Troll races. Physical appearance isn't anything with an enchanter/masks, so here are my concerns:

* Does the Natural Armor from the Iksar make that much of a difference?
* I'm not worried about the slam ability, iirc there is an AA that allows bash to be used with a two hander if I wanted.
* Does the regen from Troll/Iksar help enough to make a difference?

Numerically, the Ogre is superior on almost all fronts, aside from spell casting. Am I missing something in this conclusion?

Yes you can bash with a 2hander, so its not very useful.
The answer here is No.

Apparently trolls had their resistance penalty removed, hurrah.

It all depends on yourself. If you plan on being a toptier raider, race really doesn't matter (unless your a big min/maxer). If your going to be casual, I'd pick ogre or Iksar personally (Iksar would be the preference).

The stats, will in the long run not matter. You will get max sta/str rather easily. The 40 ac bonus from iksar means far more then anything else, and I would highly recommend it. But most people choose what suits them as far as looks go.

Haha, yeah, the scaly swim animation is made of win. I am pretty set on an Iksar, I didn't know it was 40 AC that they wound up getting: that is pretty sweet. I'm still a bit worried about the stats though. I know that both the Ogre and Iksar will reach cap with decent gear at end game, but the AA that lets stuff above cap count for mitigation/damage/etc makes me think I'll be missing out. It's almost an 80 point difference on STR and STA, in my mind that is such a huge deficit that gear can't make that disappear. But, then again, I've only played casters so I could and probably am wrong.

Honestly, in end game the stats are much less of a concern than you probably think. It's nice i guess but overall the ac bonus would prevail. Should be whatever you want though

most of these answers are wrong. Pick iksar, the ac bonus will help significantly. The other races you have selected have crap bonuses. Gnome is also a decent option.

Do an Iksar and dump all your extra points into charisma.

I would either do this or go with a gnome. Gnomes have a great racial bonus (10% to all of their foci and 10% to their worn haste). Iksars get some AC which makes them better at tanking, which is what you want as a shadowknight. Racials are pretty small, but they do count for something. I would just go with what you like the most, however.

(P.S. Stop fucking with my post count, asshole)

I never look at it. I only saw it because Aytewi bumped an old thread where I was trolling Gregor or some shit.

I would go Iksar and spend my points in stamina.

The spells you will be casting most often are either unresistable or have a ludicrously high resist mod. Your aggro spells are unresistable and, running some quick analysis on my log (~6 months of data), Deflux has a resist rate of just under 3%*. It doesn't get much lower than that.

Shroud of Nightmares/Spear of Agony both have a resist rate of around 25%* for me. Kind of high, but I'm not convinced 20 more charisma would make that much of a difference. In either case, the boost to health/mitigation is going to aid you in your primary role as a tank. I wouldn't mind seeing some resist percentages from a shadowknight with higher charisma and a large sample set, though.

I understand where the charisma suggestion is coming from, but you will spend the majority of your career below the stamina cap (only one of the top five shadowknights is over the hidden strength stamina cap). The charisma argument also hinges on the assumption that you will Always And Forever have shaman stat buffs, but I doubt this is the case for anyone but the most laborious buff botters.

*Also, I didn't bother to dick with interrupts when I was checking my log so the real resist rates are slightly lower.

Fact is if you make it to the high end on a Shadowknight, the only stat you will be lacking in is Charisma. So I'll take 20 useful charisma over 20 of any other stat which will be useless due to gear actually having it.

You might want to keep in mind it has been stated that racials will be rebalanced around the release of Ikisith and it's probably a given that Gnomes will be hit hard.
