Singing / Instrument Mastery AA / Mez

Sorry, I know there are threads on the forum regarding this AA but none of them came to a conclusion, and I do not want to revive some old thread from year 2007.

I understand that singing mastery in SoD affects -all- songs (singing / percussion / string / wind / brass) when a song is being played WITHOUT the appropriate instrument which the song requires. While instrument mastery boosts the effect of all songs in addition to whatever modifier percentage given by the instrument that's being wield. (including singing)

An old suggestion from a SoD veteran bard in the past, and his suggestion reflects the exact the same mechanism / calculation of these two AA on EQLive.

2) Change and overhaul singing mastery and instrument mastery. Make it as they say they are, singing mastery effects your singing mod based on what your singing mod is (even with an instrument equipped that provides singing mod) and make instrument mastery effect every other instrument.

I.E. 1.6 mod from Djinni, with singing and instrument mastery you'd receive a flat 2.2 mod for everything. But if you didn't have singing mastery make it so you'd get just the 1.6 mod from djinni, and the full bonus on all other instruments from instrument mastery.

That way it would give effect to singing mastery, without having any overpower issues. Just separate singing from all the other types of instruments. Although I don't know if that is possible, if not, I would like to see a change to singing mastery to make it a useful AA.

That being said, is it possible to tune these two AA to:

Singing Mastery only effects -Singing- type of songs. Gives modifier (0.2 per lvl) when oneself does NOT have a singing modifier item equipped, and adds on that 0.2/lvl boost onto whatever singing modifier item that's being equipped.

Instrument Mastery only effects -Instrument- type of songs. (Percussion / String / Wind / Brass) Gives modifier (0.2 per lvl) when oneself does NOT have the appropriate type of instrument modifier item equipped, and adds on that 0.2/lvl boost onto whatever appropriate instrument modifier item that's being equipped.

I am 200% certain this is how these two AA skills worked in EQLive. I hope this will not create a big program for the devs to re-code these two AA in SoD, if the suggestion is taken.

In addition, I saw an old thread mentioned that bard mez in SoD is not affect by instrument modifier. (It does in Live) Can that be looked into as well, so some of us old fashion bards can remind ourselves how useful it is to equip a 2.4+ wind mod flute when mezzing. :)

Thank you for looking into this.

Singing mastery definitely needs looked at and has been a known problem for a very long time. I recall having a conversation with Ginam about it whom had a conversation with Foma about it long before then.

The problem arises from the abundance of all-instrument modifiers and it's incompatibility Singing mastery. Singing mastery only applies with there is no all or singing modifier equipped. With the introduction of the 1.1 all-instrument modifier from the bard guild, Singing mastery becomes null considering any bard past the level of 15 will likely wear a form of the all-instrument mod in some form for the rest of his or her career. Compounded with this, Singing mod only items are few and far between.

However, I do not subscribe to your suggestion of applying instrument modifiers to mez songs. This would greatly diminish the utility of the every-day bard if you would need to swap in a flute to reliably crowd control while killing your dps and appeal to group members.

If we can have enough bards' attention on this suggestion to change AA skill, perhaps the dev-team may consider. After all, who'll look after the bards if the bards don't look after themselves.

If you support any of the above suggestions, please post! Thanks!
