A lot of people have signatures. A lot of people don't. They're nice ways to personalize all of your posts and really cement your identity. At the simplest, instead of "signing" your posts with your character name, you can include your name in your signature.
The signature panel can be accessed from the User Control Panel or Quick Links (as seen below). Signatures can be as simple as the names you play under or more complex... but we'll get to that!
Creating law-abiding signatures
Ok, first off, there are two forum rules related to signatures
Signature height is easy to determine when just using an image, but when you start including text it can get a little trickier. Let's use eisley's signature as an example of this.
The area in red is effectively what makes up his signature, and comes to 143 pixels tall. This is a totally appropriate size.
Signatures that don't conform to the signture rules are removed. In addition to these signature-specific rules, any signature that breaks the general rules of the forums or are considered especially inappropriate are also going to be removed.
Creating a simple signature
Using the text editor on the forums should be enough to produce simple text and links. There is a button in the panel to create text links in this format: TEXT. So if JoeShmoe (and no that is not my way of approving the use of that name!) wanted to link back to his fomelo, he might make his signature...
Of course, not all text needs to be a link, perhaps he wants to include a line break and a message
Creating a less simple signature
Text just isn't enough for some people. They have to get all fancy and start throwing images around. Of course, keeping with the forum rules we reviewed above, an image can easily be added by clicking the image button in the editor panel. You'll get little something-something like this.
Everyone loves squares. Of course, a lot of people will want to link their banners back to their guild site, or perhaps their own fomelo. You can do this.

And that's it. Most of this is really simple stuff but I know it hangs up some people, so hopefully those people will find this useful.

Do Not Impersonate the Staff
Don't pretend to be someone you're not, no matter how funny you think it is. This includes imitating or stealing staffer names, signatures and avatars. Yes, even if you think you're hilarious. It also applies even when you point out there are several things that are different. In fact, don't use any material that could in any way be confused for something a staffer is currently using.
Structure Silliness
Your signature may be up too 200 pixels tall (including all images, text and whitespace) and must be undisturbing to the forums as a whole. No retarded seizure pictures, no speedily animated images at all. Furthermore, it may not exceed a total of 64kb in size. This includes avatars.
