*sigh* Error

Hey, a friend of mine is trying to get his WR to work, and hes following the same instructions i did to get mine to work, and mine does work fine. When he starts up his patcher it says
"Attempting to connect to Patch Server...

Error: Username/Password was not accepted for file transaction.
Please send a email to [email protected] concerning this error."

I have no idea whats up, or why its doing that. Help me out please.

Thanks, but i don't understand how to use that. Does he put it in his EQ Directory and run PathWR? or eqgame.exe?

What patcher does is that it downloads those files and then places it in your eq directory (as Darwin said).
By downloading those files, and putting them in your eq directory, you do the same thing as the patcher.

The reason people use the patcher instead of those files is because the patcher downloads other files than those, and it's a lot of hazzle for Wiz (EDIT: Turns out Melwin updates those) to zip the patch files and upload them to the server. That's also why those files are way outdated, and you should only use them if patcher doesn't work.

Well heres an update to this problem. He put those all into his directory, and he tried to run eqgame with his eqw. I had to send him mine because he only got a black screen. He logs in, but when he gets to the server select, it says hes lost connect to the patch server, and to try again later. But i had just logged on 5 minutes prior to this, and was not disconnected. Hes bringing his comp over to my place this friday, and im going to LAN him an exact copy of my files. Any reason that wouldnt work?

Excatly when does it say that? Does it say after he connects to WR? Can he get in far enough to see the servers? Can he even login? You have to be more specific. Try to explain excatly what you did and what happens when, and how it looks, and the excact error. It will help us help you. :)

Alright, I'm sorry for being so vague on that last post, he hasnt logged on AIM and I dont think he will for a few more hours. Here is what i can tell you from my memory. First he downloaded the everquest triology off of fileplanet.com because the sony download took 8hours. He then patched up all his expansions Past PoP. He then made the eqemu folder, moved all the files, put in the WRUI files, and ran the WRPatcher. He had already done all his verification on eqemulator.com and such. He then ran the patcher, and the patcher gave him the error from my first post. We used eqw, and tried to run it with the path for eqw going to eqgame.exe trying to skip the patch. It didn't work, so i sent him my eqgame.exe and he replaced his with mine. It than up to the login. He logs in, and sees the server select screen but there are no servers (I think) and right away a message box pops up saying, I hope I have this correct: Lost Connect to Patch Server. Please try again later, this is usually temporary. I can get more specific when i talk to him.

The error is in an everquest window, not a microsoft pop up window. He sees the server select screen, but im pretty sure he sees the error before servers show up. He can log in. I have tried sending him all my files from the patchfiles.rar thing, and then running it, but still no dice.

Well, this might be a dumb question, but, you are posting for him, does he have a WR acocunt? I don't know if that would cause any problems or not. Just thought I'd ask.....

No, not a dumb question, he has a WR account through eqemulator.com As did I until yesterday, (or maybe the day before i dont remember). He isnt very computer smart, so im trying to take care of this for him.

What I meant was, has he registered on the WR forums? You need to ( or at least at one time you needed to) have a WR forum account to log into WR.... It's separate from Eqemulator account....

No he dosent, and you dont need one to log onto WR as far as i know, i played for a few days without signing up for an account.

Does he have a live account with the same nick/pass? His eqhost.txt should look like:
EDIT: It should look like this instead:
[Registration Servers]
{
"register.eqemulator.net:5999"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"lethalencounter.eqemulator.net:5997"
}But that is in the patch files, so I don't understand how you were able to log in the first time, unless he has a live account with same login info. If the excact same thing happend after you replaced the patchfiles (and eqhost), then I don't understand. But try and make him double check his eqhost, because some times it doesn't overwrite mine either, even though I tell it to :finger: .

His reads the same. I have no idea, this is stumping me. Hell be over at my house tomorrow, and ill LAN Transfer him my files. Would there be any probs with that you think? And can 2 comps play from the same ip?

They can.
And I think login server is down atm. At least I can't connect atm so, that might be the current problem.

The problem has been spanning across days, so its not that. I was able to connect when he could not. I don't think this is a pressing issue for me any longer, but it would be great solve this for future problems similar to this.
