The rebalance is in and here are the new numbers:
Greatstaff of Denos
Slot: Primary
Skill: 2H Blunt Atk Delay: 38
DMG: 61
Focus Effect: Damage Increment V
Effect: Enthann's Guard (Combat, Instant)
STR: +23 STA: +23 HP: +230 MANA: +180
MR: +15 FR: +15
Weight: 3.5
WAR PAL RNG SHD MNK BST
Sidrav, Maul of Slaughter
Slot: Primary
Skill: 2H Blunt Atk Delay: 37
DMG: 59
Effect: Plague Shock (Combat, 0.1)
STR: +20 AGI: +30 HP: +250 MANA: +205
PR: +25 DR: +25
Crit Strike: +3%
Weight: 4.2
WAR PAL RNG SHD MNK BST
Denos ratio: 1.605
Sidrav ratio: 1.595
Old Denos Ratio: 1.658 (assuming fire damage hits on average half of the time)
Sidrav ratio unchanged
So in addition to losing 5ac, 2 damage reduc, and .7 weight, it was handed a ratio almost exactly the same as sidrav that is surely to be made up by 3 crit strike and an offensive proc. These two items are no longer in a progression, but alternatives to one another.
Previously, Sidrav was clearly better for rangers (3 crit strike affecting bow damage) or a huge boost from OP, and Denos was clearly better for monks (far tankier and superior dps and lower weight), so there was a reason to have two at the same tier. I don't believe denos should be restored to its former glory because it was pretty much amazing before, but there should be good reason to choose between sidrav and denos.
