from tome of knowledge:
essentially your max hit is your weapon's damage * derivative based on your ATK
Since ATK raises with level, damage does too
ATK isn't relevant to your hit chance. It determines how much the damage multiplier of your weapon's damage is
I've been wondering how it works if you use two identical weapons, only one is h2h and one is 1hb. Monks inevitably end up with +h2h (and others +pierce or +1hs) and so their shown atk rating will be higher with the h2h in main, but will they necessarily do more damage? This is also relevant to ranged weapons, which obviously should not work off of displayed atk rating, or else not holding any weapons would reduce your ranged damage.
Is it that you have an atk rating for each weapon type, and displayed or not, that determines how much damage you do with that weapon?
