Shopping advice needed

I have a 34monk/32 shaman duo (original huh) and have 500pp to spend. I was thinking that the most effective purchase would be a haste item or two handed weapon for the monk. Any ideas or help? I am so clueless that I have bought items for 20pp only to see them sold for 5pp ten minutes later. Thanks in advance for sharing your collected wisdom!

Not a two handed weapon, and you won't find a haste item for 500 pp. My thoughts would be to get minor armour upgrades, for about 25 pp each, or there abouts. Once you get a k or 1.5 k, buy a Turtle Sash thingy, with 21 % haste for your monk. You will use it until 65, unless you get lucky and get something better before then.

If you need armour, fight in Kaladim. I'm not sure if spectral drops anymore, as someone was complaining, but I don't see why it wouldn't. There are also a few drops in here from the nameds that spawn in certain locations, that are nice for some extra cash if you put in the time to sell them ( I sold most of it for below market value, or else you can auction for days and days).

Just keep fighting and getting more upgrades. Do not buy a 2hb for your monk. As it stands, I just don't think 2hb can compare to duel wielding. If you have the choice to duel wield, do it. Now as for weapons, you can get a Staff of Darkness (10/18, dot proc snare proc effect) for 300 pp to 400 pp which is usable at level 45. For 250 pp to 300 pp (wait for these prices, and auction to buy them) you can get a Cane of the Champion, which is 12/22, 1hb. THe cane is usable at level 40. Before these weapons, I was using a Fungus Covered Claw (7/20, +2 disease damage, with a dot proc). It's fast, and most mobs don't have high disease resist. Definitely worth 50 pp that you'll see it for (don't buy for higher than that). Also, Golem Fists (18/38, or something?) are a good buy, at around 80 - 100 pp. These also have some minor stats to them.

As a human, I used the two blunt weapons up until level 56, when my fists became 12/22 naturally, and sold off my weapons. As an Iksar, you'll most likely want to go further than that. Also, there is the Bloodletter quest you may wish to do, and could probably complete at least the first stages or second at level 50. I'm not entirely certain as I myself never did the quest.

Hope this helps. In short, save up. You don't want to buy mediocre items and then have to resell them a few levels later. Get some long term weapons and upgrades that cost a bit more. All of the items mentioned above can be found on player vendors in Newport, and none of them minus the Bloodletter (10/20, 11/20, and 12/20 [the three different verions]) can be camped at your level.

This is the best piece of advice you could have possibly given.

I only buy things that I am sure will enjoy for a long time, if it's a side upgrade, means I either quested it or camped it, I am a best bang for the plat kind of person, so I might end up saving up for weeks just to update one slot with a quality item. I will keep a cheap but semi-decent decent item until I have enough money for a meaninful upgrade.

If you spend money on upgrades, it better be worth it! SAve up for haste :)

you can get that dragon hide sash or whatever for 500p, but i dont think 10% haste is worth 500ish. so yah, save up your $, buy something nicer!

As always the advice is solid. Thanks much. I read on a post here that the dragonskin sash is 15% haste. Are there other easier to obtain haste items? A 15% improvement in damage seems significant to me, certainly better than any monk aa skill as far as improving dps. I also bought some wisdom gear for the shaman to increase his mana pool which is just pathetic at the moment. Thanks again.

15% haste != 15% damage increase
