shiruken request

Maybe it's in and I just haven't found them yet. I'd love to see a charged summon shiruken bag like you have for bandages with the med kit. Maybe call it the monk kit or something, would save me weight in not carrying an extra bag for them!

Thanks

Shurikens have ridiculous range and are the best bought throwing item. Would be cheezy to put them on a free summon for low levels. But nothing beats the leonin bola that comes from this bad boy.

shirukens...knives...whatever it is I don't care. I just can't afford the weight of an extra pack to hold throwing items...especially at lower levels. It would just be more convenient not having to return to town every X amount of pulls to get more knives. Monks are going to be poor by nature...in fact I 2 box with my shaman primarily to hold loot so I can afford to buy some decent armor :p

I'm not talking infinite summons, just an item that works like the medical kit and equally affordable. The infinite charge summoning ones are higher level of course, just like the bracer I had in live (the monk quest armor bracer).

bumping this post to hopefully get an admin...*cough*Wiz*cough* to notice :) It's a good idea...just ask Rab! Unfortunately his lowly GM powers do not give him keys to game development.

I think a quest that rewards you with 20 charges of summon throwing dagger wouldn't be overpowering, but the problems are:

Making a quest that fits with the lore. Why would they keep giving you daggers for you turning in ... whatever you turn in.

Tooling the quest so that it's not too hard for the reward (would suck to do it, and whee! some lowly daggers) and too easy (where you can go farm froglok eyes and keep a stack in the bank for a BAM 400 knives quest)

In fact, after listing those, it seems like just asking a mage / paying them for a summoned bag full of summoned knives would be easier :(

Why not just get a weight reducing bag that has 2 to 4 slots - small. I have seen at least one at level 15 drop in Halls of Mielech. A 2 slot I think. As far as the money goes, monks are not suppost to be rich, in a role-play sense.

well the quest thing is one idea, but like Rab said, it might not work from a roleplay point of view. Just a couple of points.

1. the medical kit (20 charges of summon bandages) is buyable.

2. is there a reason we couldn't make a shiruken/knife kit (maybe 5 or 10 charges instead of 20 for balance) and just have that buyable?

It just makes sense to me that if someone made the medical kit for convenience, there probably isn't a reason not to have a similar item for throwing? It isn't a HUGE deal...I just figured if we had one, we should have the other...maybe. :)

I think this would be a great idea for monks. Since they can only carry 15 lbs of stuff including armor they should have something to help with that handicap.

You mean like the huge avoidance bonus they get for staying underweight? :?

I wasnt aware they got a huge bonus for staying under weight.

It's just the nature of the class...better avoidance for weighing less, good damage output and crap for HP. It is part of being a monk that is annoying, but makes sense. Being the primary puller in the group it is much a convenience for the monk as it is the group members.

I thought it was an oversight to have the med kit and not a like item for pulling, but the game still rocks without it...I'll just have to get up in levels so I can afford the weight hold an extra bag for shirukens.

Sounds like a good idea... with a little modification such as maybe make it giant so it doesnt fit into bags, and is on par with the price of however many daggers it has on it.

Lets say in a roleplay sense the merchant has found an efficient way to put a multitude of daggers together. Simple cardboard box like a wedge which has 400 or whatever daggers stacked in this box. (Getting too in depth on the description) but anyways he packs em in there and sells them at bulk price.

Saves the pain of clicking buy 20 times and also doesnt have the benefit of doubling as a bag when daggers are low as a drawback.

Id say the most commonly bought items from a merchant are bandages, food, water, and throwing items. a bulk solution could be applied to all of them in a balanced way

Box of Throwing Daggers
GIANT ITEM
Weight: 3.0
CHARGES: 20
Effect: Summon Throwing Daggers
All/All

It is a good idea though I don't think WR is interested. I wouldn't make it weigh 3 myself as that defeats the purpose for a monk...I'd be better off just carrying the extra 1lb bag. I've gotten through 18 levels without it, so it's not a huge deal, just a moderate inconvenience...and hey, that's life for ya virtual or not. :p

Plus then you can attach it to several creatures in a row, tapping the other guy's blockers before you play a white instant, untap all your men, and go bash his teeth in!
