The Shifting Halo of Fire which comes off of Gorzenath looks like this:

Slot: Head Waist
AC: 15
Effect: Flowing Thought III (Worn)
Focus Effect: Eternal Flame
WIS: +15 INT: +15 HP: +110 MANA: +100
SV FIRE: +10 SV COLD: +10
WT: 1.0 Size: Medium
Class: CLR DRU SHM NEC WIZ MAG ENC
Race: ALL
Slot 1 type 3: empty

The Cold Pants which come from trash mobs in PoFrost look like this:

Slot: HEAD LEGS
Effect: Flowing Thought III (Worn)
Skill Mod: Divination +10%
STR: +5 HP: +150 MANA: +75
CR: +25
Weight: 0.4 Size: Medium
Class: WIZ MAG ENC BST
Race: ALL
Type 5 Aug Slot: Empty

As you can see, they are both VERY similar and with the Divination on the Cold Pants, some might argue that the cold pants are better with it reducing resists of all spells by 2%. I have been talking with a few people and i think the Halo could use a dev to look at it and maybe bump it up a little bit. It takes a lot of work to first be able to summon Gorz and then a lot of work to figure out how to kill him. I know on the wiki it has him listed at tier 8, but he is definately a solid tier 9 mob.

Maybe bumping up the Focus Effect to Tarhyl's Rage for 6% fire increase and maybe some more mana and hp would bring this item more in line with the rest of the stuff he drops (Well not the cloak which is also a very meh item) . I dont know, just a thought.

It has more balanced resists, and unlike the cold pants (which are garbage), this item is actually wearable. I know it takes a lot of work to summon him, but I do not feel that the item is underpowered for the difficulty. It also has more mana already then the cold pants, in addition to having some ac on there. Plus, the item has 15 int/wis, which if you weren't capped, turns out to make this item have substantially more potential mana than the pants. The focus effect it adds is just icing on the cake, and plays into the flavor of the zone. There is no reason to upgrade the focus to 6%, since 6% fire focus generally is being acquired via thaz or upper tier encounters in ToT.

The Halo is barely better than a tier 7 trash drop. I agree that Gorzenath is a solid tier 9, and I don't think asking for a 6% fire focus from Gorzenath, the Master of Fire is out of line.

or a easy tier 8 mob by the name of Enthann (Gorz is harder btw). At this tier you are not going to find any caster / healer who isnt maxed in INT or Wis. The pants give you +2% to resists on your spells, they are not garbage by any means, but still they are a pretty common drop off of tier 7 trash.

not to mention enthann drops a tarhyl's rage, and shojar's cruelty item. they are both very analogous in that they are zone bosses and have large loot tables, but gorzenath requires 100x more work to get him to spawn and the encounter itself is harder.

Eh I wouldn't consider him harder than the Enthann fight really... he's harder to get to initially, but quicker to repeat afterwards. And obviously fewer people have done Gor so his strat is less refined than Enthanns, so he may seem more difficult, but if you feel like debating his difficulty that'll have to be done in PM's. His gear is supposed to be high tier 8 stuff once you find him, he's quicker to get to as well.

I'll send the halo towards Zaela and see what she thinks (I have no head for item balancing), but no promises are being made. FT III on caster gear is pretty rare no matter the tier, and the item is kinda based around that.

Also note that when both items were made, divination did nothing worthwhile for int casters.

I agree FT 3 is pretty rare, but when compared to other items like:

Buckle of the Strategist (High General, Same tier id say roughly same difficulty)

STA: +10 CHA: +14 WIS: +17 INT: +17 AGI: +10 HP: +145 MANA: +180

Flowing Thought: +2
Stun Resist: +3%
WT: 1.8 Size: SMALL
Class: CLR DRU SHM NEC WIZ MAG ENC

Slot 1 type 5: empty

or

Soulspike (Nashtav, little higher in difficulty)
Slot: WAIST

SV FIRE: +20
Flowing Thought: +2
Aggression: -1%
WT: 1.7 Size: SMALL
Class: CLR DRU SHM NEC WIZ MAG ENC
Race: ALL
Slot 1 type 5: empty

or

Demonic Halo (Verkisol, lower tiered and a lot easier)
Slot: HEAD
AC: 18
Effect: Flowing Thought II (Worn)
STA: +15 WIS: +18 INT: +18 CHA: +15 HP: +120 MANA: +150
FR: +10 PR: +10 DR: +10
Weight: 1.9 Size: Small
Class: CLR DRU SHM NEC WIZ MAG ENC
Race: ALL
Type 5 Aug Slot

The Shifting Halo of fire seems pretty bland in comparison. I put in items with similar FT on them, and yes having 3 ft is rare but if you consider 1 ft is equal to 50 mana then these other items surpass it greatly by offering more HP, more resists (kinda), and STA and CHA. What the halo does have is a 4% fire effect which you can get a 6% increase from Enthann or Tashkal (both tier 8) if you are a caster who needs that stuff. Maybe if the eternal flame stays on it then possibly some + evocation would be nice since it would help dru, clr, and shm because evocation on items for them are hard to find. I dont know.

Anyways, thanks for looking into this regardless if things get changed or not.

I'm not sure if he's much quicker to complete than Enthann by any substantial margin. If ALL of the trash was up, then yes Enthann may be a bit longer. But honestly, with the rate that that zone dies and the way the mobs are split up on spawn timers, it's fairly comparable if Enthann isn't a downright faster clear.

Comparing him to Plane of Fire, you've got a bunch of mobs to clear not to mention another boss in the way (Mephitkalia, who has been up when we've killed Gorz).
