Shield of Light

I did the paladin starfall to get this shield just a few moments ago because the wiki neglected to mention it's a combat proc which I've since updated to reflect that. I'm really disappointed I wasted my time on the quest. The way the item is now the quest is kind of a waste of time since a player would be better off farming some stuff for 100-200pp in order to buy a gleaming shield in roughly the same amount of time it takes to do the quest which is actually a much better shield and the one I was using when I did the quest. The whole reason I did the quest was because I believe it to be a right click effect and given the low ac on the shield I don't see why shouldn't be if might need to have a .5 or 1 second cast time on it since cleanse apparently heals for 5 hp's along with the poison/disease counter removal. It only removes 1 counter of disease and poison so I don't believe it would be overpowering by any means especially given it's rather low ac so .5 second cast would probably be fine and make it a decently nice situational shield to use later on for players and a great low end quest shield as well. Anyways here's the wiki stats on it.

100-200pp was a lot of cash when I was doing my Starfall quests and I had plenty of other ways to spend it, but this one might be harder. What level would you need to be to accomplish this quest?

P.S. Just checked out the wiki and it doesn't look like this quest takes much time (one camp and 2 ground spawns). Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'd also still like to know what level Sand Giants are (the first time I saw one he was green).

The fact that you happen to be twinked with lots of money or whatever makes you able to spend 100-200pp at the drop of a hat at level 40, doesn't mean the reward isn't level appropriate.

the quest is simple. the gleaming shield drops off a level 55ish mob. because its not hard to come by the price dropped a bit.. just because gleaming shield was farmed a bit doesnt mean low end quests should yield better rewards than mobs around level 50-55... imo be happy gleaming shield is as cheap as it is=/

Starfall quests are like level 40, gleaming shield is 50-55, why shouldn't it be better?

i have posted on it before pre-raid melee shield selection is really poor compared to all the other stuff out there

Shield of Light is sorta weak
this is i think a L25ish quest, might be lower if you have a group
Obsidian Tower Shield
Slot: SECONDARY
AC: 23 STR: +4 WIS: +4 INT: +4 HP: +30

a L40 shield should be 30ac or so

Gleaming Shield is very low AC for the level it comes from, might be to offset the +heal
the L50 req quest shield in icewell, that is extremely easy to get, is 35ac

Yeah, if the stats on this guy are correct it does seam a little strange for a Starfall quest reward to be overshadowed by a generic multi-class quest reward of similar or easier difficulty.

Edit: Didn't notice the saves on Sheild of Light, those are some pretty big saves at this level.

icewell shield is only "really easy to get" if you like farming harthuks for the thurg faction to even start the quest.

Which takes like 20 minutes. You don't exactly need many of those horns.

Lack of Shield options have been brought up many many times.
It will sound sad, but my paladin still has the shield of light, I have yet come across a shield up grade I could ether afford or mange to go after. (aka be lucky enough to get the dam mobs to drop it.. cmal etc. )

Its not a horrorible shield for its levels, however like others have pointed out theres a generic shield thats better then it which seems odd.

I can deal with the low ac honestly the proc being a combat thing is my biggest gripe since it's unreliable and with that in mind only a removal of 1 poison/disease counter isn't really that helpful also considering the effect on the shield poison/disease resists would likely be more well suited for the shields intended purpose better. It does proc a decent amount, but given the amount of counters it takes to remove a disease or poison buff it's not very helpful at least a 65 I really would have never done the quest had I known it was combat proc to begin with, but oh well stuff happens. I'll have to look into that icewell shield sounds like it might be something I should check into for a better ac tanking shield.

this shield is not intended to be great at 65. and dont u have a cure spell? it is like 50 mana... doubt its worth carrying the shield around for to click it.. its not that hard to find something a little better... but between what little better u can get and a mediocre increase... its a huge jump in price/level range...
