Shaman newb quest - does it progress more?

Does the barbarian shaman amulet quest continue past the first one? Just curious as I was messing around trying the newport warrior quest and saw that there are at least 2 belts. Haven't tried the third yet, so not sure on that.

Any barb shamen out there that can tell me?

Also, since the rangers near Centaur Hills won't speak to me... is there a ranger newb quest? My pal has searched all over and can't seem to find any dialogue for a newbie quest.

i found the halas quests to be quite dull. i only go back there for spells, since it's so out of the way of anything. your best bet is doing the thurgadin armor quests.

kill tizmaks in GD for no drop armor pieces.

kill rogue dorfs in GD for heads. turn heads in in thurgadin for faction and tempering.

kill drakes/wyrms for drake hides, and turn drake hides in to the miner guy (mertz i think) in the GD dorf mines for chunks of obsidian.

1 tizmak armor piece + 1 tempering + 1 (or 2 if legs/tunic) chunk of obsidian to captain nalog in thurgadin = shadowy armor piece

don't stack anything when doing turn ins, as it always seems to eat the item and not work. also, don't give the head turn in guy more than one head at a time, as he will only reward you for one.

the armor is dark red/maroon, and has not too bad of stats for the level of the monsters the components comes off of. i'll post some pics and stats later. so far i've done boots and legs, as the tizmak armor pieces are the hardest parts to come by. (legs seem to drop a lot, but everything is no drop, so you can't trade em).

i'd like to add that you can also get the obsidian off of the rogue dwarf miners in the caves in Thurg itself. or atleast you could when i did it.

Reward is not droppable and is SHM only. But you might be able to do it. Go into the shaman guild in Halas and go to the end of the hall and talk to the female barbarian there (forgot her name).

Who is the NPC that gives out this quest and can it be done by a cleric?

i assume that was directed at me. and yes, a cleric can wear the armor. the NPC that starts it all is captain nolog in thurgadin. ask him "what shadowy mail" i think. you can do it with dubious faction, although i ended up with high thurgadin faction just from turning in the heads for the temper, killing drakes, and turning in horns i got from tizmaks while trying to get them to drop armor.
