Shadowknights??

I had a question cause I was reading some of the "perfect group" or w/e threads and it seems like shadow knights are not so good? My question was are shadow knights tankers or dps or just fun to have around or fun to laugh at? Late game that is for raiding as i hope to someday. Anyhow just curious, if there's already a thread about this feel free to troll on me and then provide a link preferably :psyduck:

All the tanks have their place. I'm personally biased towards the versatility a shadow knight brings to a non AE group. With an SK you don't need a monk or necro to pull, so can add extra DPS. In the harder areas where AEing is impossible, they shine even more, and having unresistable hate generation is honestly really nice.

In an AE group, or in Highkeep or other undead heavy zone, you will get alot more mileage out of a Paladin. But just because there is alot of paladin love out there, doesn't mean the shadowknight is inferior. Just look at all the bickering the two knights have about stepping on one anothers toes for proof.

I see another question related to this then would be would i get playtime or would i just be a benchwarmer :tinfoil:

That depends on the group of people you end up with more than anything else. Every class brings something to the table in this game.

As far as pick-up groups go, three times out of four, the groups I've been in were hurting for a tank. I know lots of people tell new players tanks get no play time, but that hasn't been my experience.

As tanks go, shadowknights are very good.

For grouping at the end game, tanks are desired.

Raiding is where you might have an issue. Three tanks (war, sk, pal) seem plenty sufficient as a rule. So unless a guild loses its SK, you may not find a slot. But if you are good enough, you will find a guild with an opening. And there are other classes where only one of a class are really needed for a raid.

Yes, for grouping.. tanks are the most sought after. Especially if you are a good player and well geared. A good tank will make up for any other weakness the group has (no cc, weak healing, etc). I think this is likely because fewer people play tanks than most other classes.

The big downside, which possibly contributes to less being on the server, is that for raiding they are not easily replaced when a former tank quits. Therefore, guilds are very unlikely to replace their MT, and most of the time would rather bot them for the rest of eternity than re-gear a new MT. I think this is kinda sad, but it's part of "the game" and one of the few downsides of 18 man raids.
