Shadowknight And Paladins... ooh my.

Sorry for the bad joke, I was curious, looking at the two classes, on the wikia.
I was looking mainly at the shadow, cause I love the troll regen that i had on my shaman >.>, haven't tried many of the good classes, so my question is, in your opinions which is better, mainly just curious to try to find which i should play as, I know these topics can get annoying I hate them in most forums but I am at a(n) impasse.

Palys are the King of XP groups for the most part, SKs are amazing at XP also can lock down 3-4 mobs without even trying, SK aggro is amazing and lifetaps work almost the same as the paly self heals so my vote is SK > Paly. But i'm a mindless monkey melee dps so i'm biased!

This is so wrong there is nothing even remotely correct about this part of your statement.

If you want to be better early on pick a paladin if you want to spend alot of time sucking and being sub par and probably having to deal with mana issues/constraints until you're able to rack in enough flowing thought gear be a shadowknight.

If you want to maximize cash, pick a pally and stay in undead zones.

3 self heals, 2 group hots, Consecrate Undead, Innate Crit to Undead, Lay on Hands, Hand of Piety, and Protection of the Lady > Harm Touch and pleasing rogues who don't use /s 5.

I prefer playing an sk, but you asked which class was best.

Sks are superior as farmers, so long as you are boxing. In most xp and 6 man zones, Paladins are easier/more efficient. On raids, sks tank sligtly better, can hold aggro WAY easier, and can in a pinch, help pull; while paladins generally spam group hots as needed, and imo are better ramp tanks most of the time due to their self heals.

Personallu id say go SK as imo there is a real lack of dedicated ones on the server who are any good.

One thing I found nice about leveling up on my SK is all the utility spells they have, well self only utility spells. I boxed a cleric and xp'd without a group a fair amount leveling up. Being able to self damage shield, lev, see invis, etc really came in handy.

I think a lot of it depends on play style. While my SK doesn't work as well in a non-stop multi-pull xp grind as a paladin, I can do a lot of things on my own with my cleric box a similar tier paladin can't (just because of FD).

If you have a group of friends to play with and plan to group a lot, paladin is a good choice. If you're more of the loner type, SK is good.

I agree with most comments in this thread so far.

It really depends on what you want to do with your tank and if you plan on boxing what class you choose to pair with. Here is my quick take having mained both (much more time spent on my Paladin).

XP -- Paladins have the advantage in the early-mid tiers here as they are much more user friendly and have the ability to generate aggro on more than 1 mob at once for a moderate mana cost. At the very high end (tiers 9-12) Shadowknights start to pull away with their superior aggro generation which translates to superior mana efficiency. Just ask any healer that I have ever played with they will choose to box a SK over a Paladin for XP.

Raids -- Shadowknights have the edge here. They are able to mitigate raw damage better than a Paladin can, and a Paladin really won't start to shine in raids until they start getting tomes/healing increment. HOWEVER, once a Paladin gets healing increment 6+, tomes of power, and some mana.. they can be really really amazing in a support role. But don't expect to tank many bosses in the high end unless you are very overgeared for it. Shadowknights in the high end excel more as tanks with far superior aggro generation and mitigation, and when not tanking they can put out some absolutely disgusting DPS with certain quested spells/tomes/a good 2hander.

6 Man -- I didn't really do much 6 man content in the early game outside of cmal 3 and tmaps. Both classes fare well in these situations but Paladins definitely are the better tank for tmaps unless you have CC. For the high end, Paladins are pretty amazing with their ability to pad heal low group members to prevent premature group heals, having an okay group HoT, and having a slew of awesome abilities in Lay on Hands, Hands of Piety, and Protection of the Lady (rendered useless in the very high end of 6 mans though).

Duo/Farm/Quest -- Shadowknights have the edge here at any point in the game. With their far superior DPS and ability to feign death/mez stance/leech stance etc. they really shine in these areas. (Unless you are farming/questing/duoing anywhere with undead).

However, whatever you do, do not use the list Otcho linked as a reference as it is outdated. Since that list has been made there have been changes made to Shadowknights, Druids, Enchanters and Bards to name a few. MAD PROPS ON THE LIST THOUGH CINN DAP DAP DADAP
