Server size?

Fright

Dalayan Beginner
Hello,

I am about to start playing SoD and am wondering how active the server is? How many people should I expect to see average around the lands? As a newbie will I be by myself, seeing 3-4 people if im lucky, or seeing tons of people?

An active player count would be helpful also if possible.

Thanks!

What expansions are enabled? For example 250 people spread across old world, kunark, velious, and SoL makes encounters with other players quite low.

Are all expansions enabled or just old world + kunark?

This is a custom server. Zones are used from Old to LDoN, but are not all used and are not in the same configuration as on live.

Ah I see, interesting.

Well would it be possible to give me an estimate as to how many people I would come across during my travels? Basically what im asking is the server a barren wasteland save for the hardest zones in the game where all the long time SoD players are - making the newbie and mid range content playerless?

No. At any given time over half the players are pre-65, and evenly distributed over the levels.

It's pretty well distributed, you'll always find a few people in zones either newbie or in a travel path : Everfrost, Mistwoods, Centaur Hill / all Badlands , Greater Faydark /Lfay /Steamfont , Stinger's Bog / Greenmist for example. But truth is, rarely over 10 people (I noticed Everfrost was often the most populated). Also a lot of people in cities (especially Athica and Newport), often 15+ people.
Also some zones like Great Divide due to the usefulness of its population (Thurgadin quests, Giant faction by killing the wyrms..).

Traveling through the world isn't very difficult though, so even if there are only a few people online in your level range you will be able to get a group together and go somewhere, even if you all started in different towns or whatnot.

If you stay in the primary zones for your level you should see others. In fact, there are times when there are too many people on. For example, many start out in front of North Newport and if one is needing lvl 5 mobs, they might be hunted out if 2 other lvl 5 guys are on. But at other times, you may not find anyone your level on. Many will 2 box for that reason. And many of the characters your level are twinks and are not interested in grouping.

All in all, finding groups can be a challenge, but on a good night you will get a full group and really rack up the EXP.
