Was this announced that theres going to be a patch, or did the game just crash? :? :?

I think patch days are Wednesdays EST now, though I'm sure an emergency one could always come up if something bad is discovered. :)

Why do people post these type of threads every time the server comes down for whatever reason?

IRC is the place for this!
 
Some people may be running EQ from a nazi'd IT machine from their company (aka a traveling salesman, trainer etc). And IRC is not able to be installed. Since EQ can be run from a client application with no registry entries needed and no installation needed it can be run on some of these laptops :)

Just one example.

IRC can be run off browsers as well.
 
To my limited knowledge the SoD IRC can't be unless MIRC or something similar has been installed. Or if you happen to be running something like firefox. IE by default doesn't support it, or my nazi IT admins just have it locked out who knows. :) I was just giving an example in any event.
 
Don't think there's a way for that I've seen, was looking the one day as I frequently get bored after school and its either the machines in my office w/no net or the extremely supro nazi machines in the lab. If there is a way to run sod irc through a browser that would be pretty cool.
