Swarth's name is being nerfed just for being in the dictionary? :lol:

i've been playing with him as one of my characters for a couple years now and never knew it was in the dictionary. I'm sorry your name Listiless Power cant go through the name filter and totally violate the naming policy, but that doesnt mean you have to find any other chance at a naming violation to prove the staff wrong. :finger:
 
Swarth -> Swarthy -> Dark/shady. Rogue.

It's a shame if that's not what you intended, but yeah. :(
 
on a side not does anything special happen when your post count matches the year Wiz? hehe :D

It's Listiless Ringare and I've been using the name since EQ started... and it's not in the dictionary...

It's Listiless Ringare and I've been using the name since EQ started... and it's not in the dictionary...

And it's one letter away from being Listless (like the enchanter spell, coinidence or not). So give it up.
 
Typically when I play RPG's, I take the name Tempest (Or Tempestt if the other name is taken) ... my live char name was Tempestt ... and again I only use that name if I take a caster character of sorts. I've always done this, for years, ever since I was in high school. Here the name Tempest was already taken, so I took Tempestt. Shortly thereafter I was forced to change it. So I switched it to Xardon. Was I upset? Sure I was, that was what I had always role played as before. Over the years I've evolved a great backstory into that type of character. But the end result is that I read the rules and understand their position. If they don't agree with the name, they ask me to change it. It's a lot better than some other places. There is a MUD out there, it's a Wheel of Time MUD (based off the Robert Jordan book series) and if you take a name they don't like, they just rename your character for you, no questions asked. You actually have to go through a naming process and wait days before playing ... well you use to years ago, not sure if they changed that process since then.

Suck it up, pick a different name, log on and have some fun. Fun is where it's about, and if you ask anyone who's been around me in game so far I, and some of my friends, have been making things in game a blast. If I can change my name and still enjoy it, so can everyone else. :)

See that's just silly... it doesn't mean listless at all and it doesn't sound like listless phoenetically. The only similarity I can see is it looks similar at a glance. I think you guys should be more concerned with the phoenetics of it since the name would be used in an alternate world anyway. If it sounds like a legitimate name then it is one.

Listiless Ringare is the name of a High Elf Enchanter. No one said anything about the last name.. I assume that means it's ok. Actually don't druids have rings? Hmm. See, it just depends on how far you want to take it and I think you missed your exit about a mile and a half up the road.

I'll use the example of Wiz saying if you guys allowed me this name it would open up the door for an enchanter named Breeize. As long as it's phoenetically different it should be fine.. a name like that is not.

Listiless ... I know you're upset, and I know the position you're in. I've been there. But try to suck it up, be creative, and come up with something else. Like I did with Xardon, it gave me the opportunity for something different, and the ability to creatively develop a different twist to my past role playing experiences. Sometimes deviating from the norm can do wonders for the imagination. Give it a shot, you might end up falling in love with a new character name. It's worth a shot rather than getting banned or upsetting others isn't it??

Yes you are right. I'm upset at the fact that I could get banned over it and the fact that it's upsetting people for some reason. I just don't understand why. I just don't. Even if you do a google search on Listiless you'll only find past posts I've made... that's it. That name is mine. :(

Like I said before, I understand where you are coming from, but you have to understand rules are rules on this server. I strongly recommend that you try hard to just give it up, and select another name. Like I said before, consider it a fresh start, because I think if you can truly get over this one issue, that you will really enjoy the in game content that's provided to you. One trait that people on this server do not desire are people who whine consistantly and drag out dead issues. Also note that player names are reviewed constantly, by other players, and GM's. I'm not going to post anymore responses to this thread, I'm just going to leave it up to you, to try to come up with a new name and get playing Shards and enjoy the game as it's being provided to you. Always remember this, you are offered this free of charge, please try to respect the owners decisions, they are paying and supporting it for your enjoyment.

With that said, I hope you can develop a positive outlook and you feel a little better. Make a char and have some fun. :)

Because you won't let it go. A decision was made by the powers that be, and that decision is not going to change no matter what you say or do. Like others have said, I suggest that you pick another name, and enjoy the game.

I've had one of my character name's changed (my original character's name from original live pre kunark), and I think my wife has had just about all of her characters' original names changed. =P Although I still don't understand or agree with some of them, we've chosen new names and moved on to enjoy the game.

Edit: Just wanted to add that the rules here and the way the staff enforce them make SoD MUCH better than live, not even considering all the superb content. Griefers, cheaters, and people who generally make things miserable for others are not tolerated here. So while you may not agree with every little decision, overall it's a much nicer place because of the way the game is administered. (Thanks staff!)
 
If you name has more than 6 letters, or any combination of letter in which I cannot remember easily to spell your name for a tell, you should be pantsed.
If you manage to have three syllables or more in your name, you should be pantsed.
If it takes an ogre more than ten minutes to pronounce your name, or if any Kerran or Iksar for that matter, you should be pantsed.
If you are an elf, you should be pantsed.

That "you used this name on live" does not mean it magically bypasses the policy. We will not tolerate this excuse. Use the rules here, not the non-existant name rules on EQlive.

If a staff member tells you that you need to change your name, please don't argue it. And by "please don't" we mean
"ABSOLUTELY NEVER EVER".

You missed your exit when you made that first thread, sorry. I'm not the one with the reading problem. That name is clearly not allowed. It resembles a word, which we do not allow. Sorry that were not pulling any special strings for you, but maybe you can consider this a little shot of 'life's a bitch and move on' before you get banned.

I suggest you drop this before you are IP banned.
 
See it's just like I said before, there's no good reason for me not to be able to have that name. This is just a power trip. Dangling it over my head just for the hell of it so fuck this I've got better things to do with my time than listen to a buncha nerds telling me my roleplaying game name isn't good enough for their server. Peace the hell out.
 
Our server is better off without people who don't expect favoritism, thanks. Why aren't you gone yet?
