Serious overheating problem

Ok, I've followed all the instructions on setting up the client and I can get into the game easily. My problem is that as soon as I finish the patcher and launch SoD my computer's temp jumps 40°C. I have no idea why it's doing this. I have an intel dual core and It takes 100% of one cpu and 40% of the second. I've been able to run live just fine, any help is appreciated.

Have you tried fixing it to not run dual-core, since it's not supported? It really doesn't sound like this is the issue, but the difference in performance would be interested to know.

Also you haven't given us a lot of info.

Your temp is jumping up because like you said the CPU is working its butt off. But 40 C isn't too hot for a CPU. Do the dual core fix like mentioned above and you should be set.

On a side note....when was the last time you used compressed CO2 to blow the dust out of your Heatsink and Powersupply? Also the fan on your video card. This should be done every few months IMO.

Also, use eqplaynice. You'll find the executable in the download section on the website. This will throttle your cpu usage considerably.
