I completed the second part of the main quest, and started the optional part instead of continuing on to part three. I went and spoke to 3 of the 5 people required and returned. Instead of asking me to work on any skills (which were all above the required levels to begin with) she asked if I was was ready to face her elemental. I said, "I am not afraid of your elemental!" and she will not summon the elemental.

This is now the only choice I have with her, I can't continue to the next part of the quest.

Hmm, I'll work on getting a dialogue option for the skills portion of the quest. For now say "What must I practice?" and you should be ok. It's a side effect of making the elemental a requirement to progress in the MQ further once you reach at least level 20.
