Scimitar of the Ghan

Faelus

Dalayan Adventurer
Just wanted to possibly throw this out for consideration.
As of now, the item is alright. But both classes have better options for their weapon slots. Druids have Spire of Sympathy, Crystalis, Sharn'ree's Verdict. Rangers have actual dps weapons with procs that are useful (if you consider a ranger melee useful of course..)

What I was wondering is, could the caster stats possibly be knocked down a bit, and have wrist added to it? I feel like a light heal proc on a wrist with stats similar to the other wrists in the zone (sacred cremation/withering curses) would be a worthwhile change, making it more viable and useful for both classes. That, and the fact that actual healer wrists (ones with cool beneficial procs/healery stats) are a bit lacking. I don't know how a ranger would feel about this change, though.

Terrible idea, or great idea, you be the judge.

(Fomelo Efik primary for stats)

I feel the sword is a nice item, I believe it is the only 1 to 1 ratio weapon a ranger can use in the game atm (not looking at + elemental dmg).

Druids have much better options for main hands to melee with that will do more dps as well as heal for more, group heals even. This really turns the item into a stat stick on harder raid mobs. There is a lot of "fun" weapons in the game. This isn't a bad thing, but it will make items with just over all better stats less "cool".

RI8 is on a lot of items. Just looking at Efik's gear, the character has 3 items with the same focus effect. I feel the item would be much better if they were to put AE8 or HI8 on it.

As a ranger, I would like to see some kind of DD/group heal put on the item much like Crystalis. Maybe this is just too big of a dream, but it would be cool none the less.

In the end, sword should go to a druid first and then a ranger next. This is mainly due to the proc being so lackluster, and +3 alteration is much better on a true healer. I like the idea of druids and rangers sharing an item.

The idea is leave it as a weapon, make it usable in bracer slot as well, and roll back the mana/ft. Change whatever else is necessary, but leave the proc alone. Ranger still gets 1:1 weapon, both get the option of a stat stick, and both get the option of a heal proc bracer. It would add something interesting to the item at least.

Oh. That's no fun. Is it possible to have a dual proccing bracer? Like a dd proc for detrimentals and a heal proc for beneficials? I've always wondered this.

I guess the real question here is, what would the odds of this getting changed to something cool like that be?

I don't necessarily agree, this item may seem lackluster in comparison to a Crystalis or Sharn'Ree's Verdict.. but those are unique items where the primary benefit is only utilized in certain situations (the procs). This item is far and away the best druid usable primary, couple it with Soul Shepard and you have 525 mana 3ft +8 alteration, that is incredibly strong and easily better than any other raiding set-up for a druid.

In addition, I would go out on a limb and say that this is by far the best ranger weapon in the game currently (except the off chances where you cannot use your bow). They get range increment 8 which they wouldn't be able to get elsewhere. They get 2 FT (amazing as it is hard for rangers to cap FT), 22 AC 225hps 280mana.. oh and the weapon has a 1:1 ratio which is pretty neat I guess. The only thing that they don't necessarily benefit from is the alteration (lol chloroblast).

Edit: 4.3 sword has +5 evocation, 23 more AC, but 5 less mana and 1 less FT.. overall better than Scimitar for rangers (rightfully so) for the dps boost to nukes.

Further edit: 4.3 2hs version has 35% DI which is significantly better for a ranger than anything (rightfully so) but certainly has its drawbacks that would prevent it from being used in a few situations (fights with large AEs etc.)
