S2 games decided to make Savage freeware, probably to generate hype for the upcoming Savage 2. So here:

omg this game was pretty awesome, although it was either you are just an OK player and you get owned by people who play all the time, or you just owned stupid newbs so it wasnt really fun.

Savage 2 is gonna awesome, I hope!
 
Amazing. I just wish I knew enough people to play this with. I hate random Counterstrikers on the internet.
 
I have played this game a lot. I can vouch for that patch, it's solid and much-needed.

There is a decent core of fans out there churning out some content, although it does seem to stall afaik. Then again, I think it has been a few weeks since I last played, and at least a year or two since I was really active.

Savage was really good, and I'm looking forward to Savage 2 too. I just hope they won't quit the game before it's decently finished though, this time :/

I tried this game a few times, it was an awesome concept, but I think they didn't have enough to it to keep everyone's attention. It's a shame too, I would have loved to see this type of thing evolve over the years.

I also thought this concept would have been great for a Online RPG. With the RTS part, some could act as the GM of a game, and the actual Adventurers would be in the 3D world.
