Starting within a few days, merchants selling the Portal Runetokens will put up shop around the main portals. While it may go against the general idea of the implementation of the portal system, the fact is that its simply too hard to get around to do things like the Main Quest at early levels.

Anyone who as much as breathes the idea to bring back the translocators in this thread will get suspended from the forums - the portals still fulfill the function of not making the cities instantly accessible to each other.

Runetokens will cost from 5-50pp, depending on how difficult the zone in question is to get to.

By main portals I mean Everfrost, Cauldron of Dawn, Lake Starfall and Sundered Mountains.

Will the groundspawn tokens still work or will we need to buy new tokens?

The sold tokens are the same as the groundspawn ones, which are still ground spawns as well.

new portal system

Static portals (identified by the magical effects in and around them, and named Portal) can be found in

Everfrost
Frosthorn
Cauldron of Dawn
Sundered Mountains
Darkwoods
Whisperling Forest
Lake Starfall

These portals will teleport you when you step into them. Where you end up depend on which Runetoken you have equipped in your AMMO slot, if None are equipped you will end up in Athica. Athica's portal is one way, you can not use this portal to go back out. On the floor near that portal you can find a rune pouch to use to hold your runetokens.


Runetokens are found near their parent portals, meaning that you have to travel to a portal by other means and pick up the Runetoken there before you can go there via the other portals.

of course they will... just like the heartlands port/gate spells are no drop.
