Rotating Motd's in DB
Hi folks.
Now, first off, I'm not sure if its possible but somehow I don't think it would be all too hard.
This post pertains to the Motd message displayed in Dalaya's Beginners.
what I suggest is that somebody with the knowhow, (probably the staff, for reasons of access) setup some sort of bot that will automatically rotate the guildmotd shown, basically it would be a program that automatically changes the motd shown for Dalaya's Beginners every few hours or so.
Currently the Motd is still the exact same as it was when i joined.
"Guild MOTD: Admin-Wiz - Welcome to Dalaya's Beginners, *the* place to ask silly newbie questions. PS. Alignment does not affect faction. (Because it comes up 55 times a day)"
while I realize that its partly because of that Motd, I haven't seen more than one person ask that question the whole time I've played. A question that pops up more frequently is how to use Specializations.
My suggestion is that with a program that changes to Motd to something else every few hours we could basically have a text document with a few different Motd's in it that this program then reads and displays. this way I think it would answer a few more questions that seem to come up often.
without spamming the guild with one long Motd.
The text file could be expanded and edited as questions develop and change.
And if this is one of those low priority things (I can understand how balance would be more important than new player orientation, I would think New player orientation would be quite important aswell) I can ask my brother how hard it would be to make a program like that (he loves to program random stuff so this is right up his alley)
