Rogue PvP

In my limited experience, Rogues die. Your only hope is to face someone who doesn't have See Invis, sneak behind them, backstab, rince and repeat.

Rogues are the worst class to PvP with, period. ( in a 1 vs 1 battle )

The only area that a rogue might shine with PvP is a large scale battle where you're not noticed because rogues are one of people's last worries and you can BS the fuck out of healers and what not.

1 tip: never fight a druid, ever

DS > your dps & heals = druid wins

With that being said, wasn't there talk of DS being removed or reduced in PvP? Beittil brings up a very good point as to why this needs to happen, thank you Beittil.

PvP still hasn't received a huge balancing. When it does, this will be looked at.

Rogues will also get a boost in general, PvP included, if (as in "when"), they get the new style at lvl 10 for the rogues that let them search for openings and then backstab from the front during fights.

Problem is, the only good 'jousting' method for a rogue is backstab.
Even for the other pure melee, they throw on a high damage 2H and do decent dps on each swing while jousting.

For a rogue, that doesn't work so well. Your best bet is to joust and time your backstabs so tap it right as you run past the other player for a nice solid bs.

Kind of funny that rogue pvp is suck in SoD. Back when I played on Rallos they were the biggest threat. Of course back then melee always kept a large supply of dispelling items (ie eggshaped pumice, golem dispell wand) to rid people of pesky thorns. Rogues were known for sneaking down to parties in the bottom of Seb and destroying everyone with their dmg disciplines. =)

hello

something i never figured out how to do .. but on sullon zek the good rogues could joust with backstab and hit you from the front. rogues have never been a popular pvp class (warriors either) due to their lack of spells and overall utility, so maybe they don't shine one on one but group pvp, a decently geared rogue with bardspeed was more dangerous than a wizard

i guess that doesn't matter unless they decide to implement pvp somehow (maybe pvp quest areas like WoW) b/c SoD is duel- city ..

i was going to say, notice there are no rogues on the Sullon Zek pvp high score page, except it's all fucked up and you can't see the classes..

but notice,

I dont know about SoD, but in live I hated rogues in PvP areas, specially if they were a small race, those little buggers get anoying and could seriously cause you major pain. I dont think here is much different so watch your back.

They are better then monks. But against casters that have high restis so you can use like parce rings on them your pretty much dead.

They aren't better then monks, monks are half decent with a good 2 hander, high resists and a few clickies

pure melee are always disadvantaged in pvp (though monks can do ok, depending on what they are they are pvping) . rogues were pretty good in kunark era but they have had the short end of the stick for a long time now.

sod pvp

The reason rouges, and all melee's that can snare or root are horrible is beacuse for some reason its impossible to hit people on SoD, unless there standing still and your right there next to them, jousting is almost impossible, its not nearly as clean as live... now im not complaining because I rknow that SoD is set up for PvE so I think maybe the Ping is given a bit of a grace which helps with All the Dcing and just generall lag over all? i dunno thats just a guess, but I do remember talking to zodium about the new pvp server there thinking about, or what ever a while back and he said somthing like yeah there is an issue there that could be claered up or somthing, dont quote me on this

but other then that, hobbes I dont know what you know aobut rogues 1v1 on live, but they were not masters of the 1v1 thats for sure, maybe good in grp pvp but im gonna say not better then other classes that could do stuff(spells) and or really huge hp and or superb melee damage(wars monks), rouges dont fall into that catagory beacuse it is not the easyest thing to backstab well in pvp especily if your fighting another melee like a monk or a war they wont really be giving you clean shots if you know how to oustright, I would say rogue might be the worst class on sod to 1v1 with, and yes druids will dominate you zomg the only way to kill caelin IMO is to use the 100 damage 70 dly hammer from PoT and have her stand in one spot!! (and possible not cast spells and maybe sit down and /q!)

oh and

one thing to add about live pvp is obviously that yes, one people got geared enough and resists beacuse absolute, rogues wars and monks all became better, along with necros for there unrestibiles bards for there insane speed and relatively low resists and rangers for there bows, I guesss you could put wizards with lures there to but Imo lures at the time I played(around PoP) were to slow casting and to litte damage to really effect melee's at that level, and certintly not enough damage to kill a druid or a shaman healing

I beat a better equipped monk in the last pvp tournament.

...Then rogues got nerfed.

P.s. If Nazul still reads these forums, I'm still bitter over losing to your un-nerfed 100% lifetaps. That title was mine dammit!

I disagree strongly.

If spamm or anyone else ( simply because I know he's very skilled ) would want to take a ponden or khiz level character and duel Zhak I'd be delighted to prove the previous statement wrong :)

Ya, I noticed that things were swifter on live pvp as well as far as moving in and out of combat range and landing hits. Even when I played my monk on live (Rallos) over dial up I had no problem jousting with my 2hb if it was necessary. I noticed in SoD when you go for a pass you just about never can time it to get a swing - its like it just refuses to recognize your attack when only briefly in range. Thats the way rogues on live jousted btw... jump spin backstabs. Doesn't seem to work on SoD but oh well not a pvp server.

I know things changed quite a bit after the velious era but I never had trouble with any class as a monk on rallos zek (Rakariz was my monk for those who may have played on Rallos). A druid could not cast a spell to heal or nuke for any significant dmg while I was attacking. Same for any cast class. Best way to get someone is to ninjacast or simply seek out a gank team! =) Oh memories. It was mandatory to carry a set of resist + nodrop gear that kept your MR at around 100 unbuffed and back then that was sufficient to resist immobilization spells. I would hardly say we were at a disadvantage. Ill admit without effect items it was harder to finish a fleeing caster than if the situation was vice versa but I didn't feel incapable 1v1 in any situation.
