Rogue augs; HP or resistances?

Teek

Dalayan Beginner
I got a level 65 rogue with about 3.4khp and;
69
116
64
106
69
resists.

I hope to do some low-tier raiding in the near future, and I have most of my aug slots open or just augged with 9hp linings. What should I invest in? A whole shitload of +15hps, just MR, or a smattering of everything?

I'd recommend getting all your resists up first if you intend to begin raiding, focusing on your MR first then your CR then your DR (since your FR and PR are already quit a bit above the rest, if I'm interpreting your color scheme correctly). A good starting goal would be to get them all above 100 base.

imo aug for FR/MR till about 150 base each, then aug CR, with SoS/shi's ward/pot4 you should be fine after that

I don't get all of the calls for resists in early raiding.
Early on many more of the named/raid trash don't do particularly painful aoes, and very few of the aoes have hefty (if any) resist modifiers.

Get something that works all the time, aka the 99% of the time you're not getting aoed.
If you rarely tank (and/or duo), go hp. If you duo with a healer a bunch, ac wins hands down.

get AC augs

Wow you're terrible.

To the OP, resist augs will give you the most bang for your buck. Resisting 1 AE will more than make up for any ammount of HP you could gain from augs.

True story....

It's very very rare that a rogue "needs" to tank, unless you 2box often as Alton stated. And when you become a raiding rogue you design your character based on what you need to survive on raids, getting past that next ae is usually it. If you pull aggro on a raid and end up tanking that's your fault. Rogue basics obv. But hell what do I know, Aline knows everything!

but yeah MR > FR > CR seems to be the right resist precedence.

this is true, just read brasileira's post history for a comprehensive guide to SoD and raiding.

My own opinion about augs has changed recently. Until a few weeks ago I would have advised that WAR PAL SK go for AC, CLR DRU SHM NEC WIZ ENC go mana, and anyone else go HP, since they add survivability in any situation, not just while being hit by melee as AC or to help resist AAs, as with resists.

While HP augs will help to keep your rogue alive longer to get a heal, only AC or resist augs will actually reduce the amount of damage the healers need to heal for, which is a bigger benefit to the raid than your rogue simply surviving. Your MR seems damn low, boosting that will be very useful, especially if you raid dragons in WW or DHK, they all do that AE MR-based fear. If you are just getting splattered on incoming or during fights are dropping to AES faster than you can get healed more HP might be what you need, but I would advise augging for MR up to AT LEAST 100 before you do anything else.

really that you guys cant sense the sarcasm on my post about AC?

Thanks all, went with a smattering of resists to bring me to;
177
152
160
122
69

I'll stay screwed on DR based lines for now I guess, no more aug slots open.

p.s. I burned out 3 or so ExceptQual AC linings to make room :haw:

I'm just a smith, I just know what people order. And I've gotten to where I stock MR & FR augs as well as AC & mana. A few HP...

Tanks - AC. Casters - mana. Rangers - HP & resists. Rogues - resists & HP. At least that's based on orders, not any overwhelming game knowledge!

Mana, Saves, AC, Stats

all do not work if you have no HP!

And by the time youre level 65, you have HP from your class/race/etc and from your gear's base stats.
