RL Business ideas - Need help

So my friend called me up today and is in dire need of some money. He owns his own home and his roomate/business partner ditched on him, and hes stuck in march with bills unpaid and overdue.

I have a sweet CHEAP deal for some retail front with HUGE amounts of senior citizen traffic. There are 4 busy retirement communities within 5 blocks of this location. Literally thousands of senior citizens shopping there daily. The potential here is phenominal Problem is we don't have much money to start up(couple thousand at the most)and are not sure what would sell well. We already have a business license and TAX ID. What we need to figure out is what we can sell to the baby boomer generation. I wouldn't mind making extra cash for myself too. I've had this location in mind for past business ventures but never went thru with it. Now seems like the perfect time since my buddy is willing to put in most of the work.

So i need brain storming ideas from you, SoD community, on what would sell well to your grandparents and other retiree's. They have lots of disposible income and time on their hands, so what can we do to help my friend keep his house? Foreclosures are a pita.

Low start up cost - business or service - retail setting with lots of traffic - make it happen - gimme some ideas!

Well I might be able to help some. I run my own business on the internet and do quite a lot of selling / reselling. The big thing is you don't have much startup capitol. That means your going to need some excellent targeted goods to resell. If you don't get the right items to resell your going to be sitting on loads of product. So all in all the very best people to ask are the ones walking around outside your buddies shop. Find out what they are interested in. Find out their likes and what they enjoy doing with their spare time. After you do this then invest your capitol into some product.

It would be better to strike up a conversation with them. Let them know you want to cater to their needs. You just want to know what they specifically look for when they are out enjoying the day. Pick their minds it wont take very long to get a really great idea that will make you and your friend some money.

Anyways thats about the best advise I can give you. Also sence you have your business license and tax id find some big warehouses / wholesalers in your area. Pick their brains then go check out those wholesalers.

Once you get your products you should use the concept of double money. Put it right back into more product. I do this quite alot on the internet. It doesnt take me very long at all before I can farm the profits along with getting all my start up capitol back.

Hope this helps bro.

Good lookin out. I've talked with a lot of the elderly people in the community on a daily basis because of my job. I'd like to get this started just as a weekend income type deal.

Where do you find wholesalers and warehouses full of goods? I'm in phoenix arizona theres got to be some good ones.

Yes there will be some damn good ones in your area. Go to the building where they give business / tax id's at. You can get some good leads there. Also look in your phone book under wholesale business. Get some numbers then call them. If they are a real wholesaler they will require you to being your tax id / license with you. If they don't require the paperwork then they are not a true wholesaler.

Try to stick with the real ones. A few bucks here or quarters there add up a a shit ton of money yearly in profits gained or lost.

If you need any more help let me know man. :)

Internet Cafe where you can serve them tea and show them how to surf the web/email their friends and family. Also buy a big screen TV+wii and next thing you know, Bingo nights will be extinct.

I can just imagine grams playing wii bowling with the bridge/book club. DEFINATELY invest in large amounts of insurance. You know the Qtip club and their brittle bones. :keke:

Showing old people the internet... very bad idea. Imagine the effort. Imagine the internet afterwards!!!

Wii games and retirees...now how cool would this be?! Imagine, teaching hundreds of retirees the fine art of Pwning?! Gosh, that actually sounds like a hell of a fun business to run. :)
