Resist question

I have been playing WoW as a mage and my friend as a warlock. He could always debuff resists vs fire and I'd use my fire spells, causing much more damage than normal. Just wondering resists can get into the negative here, and if they do, will it increase my damage?

Resists can go into the negatives.
No, it will not increase your damage. Just will incur less partial resists.

It wont let spells hit over their max damage plus damage inc modification but it will allow element infused weapons to since melee has no damage cap.
