Resist Cap?

All,

what is the effective resist cap? Is there a stat cap and then buff cap, or are they the same (ie, 250 natural MR, and 350 MR with pot4 or something)

Is there a general guideline on when these resists will kick in? For example, when doing lavascale, my monk had 325 FR with pot4/ds/etc. But he didn't seem to resist much.

Thanks

The maximum resist you can use to a resist a spell is 500. However, if your resists are over 500, then negative resist adjusts are checked first and then you resist off of your new modifier. For an example, if you have 700 MR and the AE you try to resist has a negative 400 resist adjust, then you will resist the spell at 300 MR. Another example, if you have 700 MR and the resist adjust is negative 150, then you will resist the spell at 500 MR. Basically anything you try to resist with 500 of any save will allow you to resist it. Sometimes you roll a 1, though.

Thanks!

So does that mean, that even with max resist, say 500 MR, you could easily fail the resist check because of random number generator (i.e., you are never totally immune).
