Repeller

volvov2

Dalayan Adventurer

This dropped last night.

I would like a review of the item for a few reasons.

1) The item is not magic, making it useless on certain mobs

2) Banishment is a 1200ish DD on ELEMENTALS with a 6 hour recast. This clicky is almost completely useless except for extremely rare circutmstances.

3) The Ratio on this weapon is only marginally better than the non-faction bound blade of the formless void (55/40), and it has a DD proc, the faction bound versian (55/38) has a better ratio

4) The stats on this weapon, minus the 12 stamina it has, are also worse than the blade of the formless void.

Overall I think this weapon needs a serious look at for how underpowered it is compared to the rest of the items the mob drops, which are very nice , unless of course this is the booby prize in which case, yea its a booby prize.

Please do not shit up my post with useless 'OMG its too uber already wtf do you want it be upgraded more?!?!1' Please make posts meaningful and constructive. This post is mainly intended for the staff but if any one who knows about a bit about the raid game on SoD is welcome to chime in. :)

For comparison purposes:

It appears to me that Repeller is better than Blade of the Formless Void in every area except for the proc, but judging from the encounter that drops is (dsom right?) I would totally agree that it needs to be looked at in terms of risk v. reward, because the rest of the dsom loot is extremely powerful and this item is barely better than something that drops from Zirvane, a much easier (as far as i know, feel free to chime in) encounter than dsom.

It seems like the blade needs a tuning down as far as ratio goes, but Repeller probably needs a buff (and not being magic is a bug)

yea the zirvane blade is pretty fucking own for the difficulty, it could definitely use a small "nerf" if you will

One things that I have noticed, even in that other game is that the peopel calling for item nerfs are the ones that progressed past the content and are not using or needing the item in question anymore. Why it's never the ones that could use? ;)

this is kind of a good point, i mean, guilds have been using that blade for a long time and nerfing it now would just make it harder for a guild to progress past zirvane

I've nerfed my own things before because at some point you realize "Wow, I'm in <insert harder zone here> and still using an item from <insert easier zone here>. This seems off." Because simply buffing the latter items is not always an option, it calls for a slight nerf on the lower tier item.

I'm pretty sure only the faction bound version will be tweaked downwards, so guilds have not been using that for that long.

Why do you people continue to make this argument incessantly? We have never in SoD's history accepted it at any point, and we're not going to start now. Items will be nerfed and buffed in order to balance the game as we see fit, not by what Zhak says or what Volkov did or could do years ago. There weren't any PoP AAs back when we started raiding, so does that mean you have an unfair advantage over the early players and that we should remove them again?

no it doesnt i didnt say that

There's advantages and disadvantages to being both the first guild(s) and the later guilds to go through new content, ok? It evens out in the end.

I think it's more like 'that's life, and there's nothing you can do about it'.

I think the main 'issue' raised re this point (which is kinda off topic) is that it's obviously rather dubiously viewed by a lot of players when certain people/guilds post for item nurfs (not necessarily this case) such a long time after the item has been around. It's all about timing, one could say...

Don't worry, when we nerf items we nerf them without prejudice. We've nerfed a few high end items to bring them in line with intended design too.
