Religion Help

Ok so I need some help with my group picking deities. My friend and I both 2 box and would like some help picking some Gods to worship that all of our class/race combos can succeed at.

Our group consists of:

Dwarf Cleric
Gnome Mage
Dwarf Rogue
Troll Shadowknight

We really dont understand the whole religion thing yet, but we want to make sure that we select gods that will not interfere with someone elses in the groups as we constantly group together.

Any and all help is appreciated, thanks.

That really highly depends on how far you plan to go. The sk is stuck, sk's and paladins are autosworn. Sooo that's one down.

However most zones you go to, will have no sworn mobs. Xp zones at least. The major exception to this being first ruins. Siviyana and Tarhyl deeper in is what you will encounter. Tarhyl is generally a poor choice in the first place due to raiding later considerations, as well as this. Siviyana however, is a pretty solid choice, but will exclude you from plane of torment (pretty much an early raiding staple) and from the early part of first ruins (on the other hand, you would be able to pretty much skedaddle down to bloodfire unmolested).

Really what you should be looking at are alignments for deity spec. Especially if you've done or already started the main quest. As that is pretty much where most of the alignment hits are in the game.

Your choices for being able to go anywhere are jayla, enthann, divine light, and pariah. Jayla is neutral good, enthann is chaotic neutral (you want to get as close as possible to the ideal alignment for your deity, as it gives a pretty irreplaceable bonus). The latter two your alignment will not matter. If you want to go a different way, I would personally suggest anything other than shiritri, siviyana and tarhyl. The previous two will make your early raid game pretty difficult.

Thanks for the reply, but I still don't understand. We do want to eventually raid, so from what I understand, is that eventually every character is not able to raid a particular zone because it is their gods home. We do want to be able to do the main quest as well.

With that said can I get some more specific recommendations? Thanks again for all the help and I do apoligize for all the dumb questions.

There are two dietys that won't matter raid wise.

Enthann(sp?) ~ He wants you to fight, so his raid zone allows you to. Trials = yay.

Jayla ~ Is a quest zone not raid, so you lose nothing.

If you eventually want to raid, the best advice would be to wait. I did not pledge my toon until i was far into the raid game and knew exactly what diety would give me the best diety bonus.

Since the SK is pledged to Marlow, [Lawful/ Evil] which means you will be going Evil in the main quest, i'd reccomend the other 3 pledge evil too to make things easier. I'm not sure about Marlow raid wise, i don't really see people there or anything. I box a SK/shaman and pledges the shaman to marlow just because of the handy neck gate, which goes to plane of nightmare and has a portal to erudin palace.

Saying that, a rogue has good opportunity to get chaotic alignment, whereas, as far as i am aware, it's a little more difficult to get far into the lawful alignment.

I'd suggest Marlow.

Has someone led you astray and given you the idea that to complete the main quest you must choose a god? Because you don't.

For fucking serious: If you don't understand the religion thing now just fucking ignore it until you do, its not necessary in anyway to do anything in the game, and if you don't care about min/maxing its not going to affect you very much.

Knights can go pariah too, if you want to be the badass plane of nightmare raiding loony shadowknight.

Choosing the evil line of mainquest means one of your toons has to do the ranger killing instead of killing the shadows, it wont really affect your group so much that you should plan on picking all evil gods to make things "easier"

what Xpmaster said, dont bother with religion until you understand more about the game, what planes/loots you lose when you pledge to a certain diety. and DONT pledge to tarhyl:) if you have more questions after you get a lil more comfortable, send another post:)

The best choice in my opinion without goin into details is shojar, and sivyana after that.

Shojars raid zone is skippable, yet the augment is will be one of the strongest. Same goes for sivyana which will also be better than average.

Ranger / shadows? i was just talking about faction tbh... easier for them all to pick one faction surely.
