Relic Spells

In tier 1 the only ones that drop relics are the animal named and Za'yth in WW, the rest drop ancients.

Also, dont expect the mobs from the tiers listed to insta drop Relics just because they are raidtargets... especially on the lower tiers the droprates are a bit lowish...

~5% iirc

Drop rates become better on the upper tiers, but can still be quite frustrating. Remember, these cases are independent so don't expect to get many relics just because you have killed lots of mobs that can drop them.

You won't start seeing relics drop regularly until tiers 5/6, although the other mobs have a chance to drop them. Fusion raids pretty regularly, but we only managed to relic 3 characters before we advanced to where we are now.

tiers 3 and 4 have a pretty good relic chance in all honesty. Mostly because of NDHK and is chance to drop a few per run.

If those tiers are supposed to have a "pretty good" chance to drop relics either we just got screwed or something is broken, might be worth checking out.

I don't have any numbers because I thought they were supposed to be as rare as they were, but does less than twenty relics for 4 months of raiding at least 3x a week and often closer to 5x a week sound right Wald? We killed at least 2 names in every zone we raided, and often many more when we were in DHK or SE since the names are so much closer together than places like Air. We also do stuff like popping GotSS before we move into a zone for the nights raid, so a few extra relic chances per week as well.

Also Widan: King Rymaz in SK also drops relics although in 30+ kills I think we got our first one the other night

As well on a side note. How rare is the Wailfury? Out of 10+ gotss kills he only recently dropped 1 arms and has yet to drop the Wailfury.

But indeed we have been shafted. Earlier zones such as dhk/torment have a ridiculously low rate as some nights we simply cleared the zones for loot yes but after clearing pretty much the entire zone of torment/dhk we rarely saw a single relic.

AFAIK, he drops 2 sunbursts everytime

I believe Gnok is the only one of the animals that has a chance to drop relics. Plaguefang and Lavascale do not.

You might have a few chances per run, but those chances are very small. Having done a good bit of NDHK, it's uncommon to leave with a relic, and I've never seen more than 1 in a night (although I'm sure it happens on rare occasions). Even Wiz says in this thread:

NHDK mobs have a 8% relic drop rate, if you're farming NDHK for relics you're looking in the wrong place.

Full zone clears are your best chances for relics. If you only have the option to kill 1-2 bosses a night, its going to take awhile. If you have the time and resources to get into a guild that can clear a zone in a night then the relics will come much faster. When Dandy started clearing PoA/PoT/PoW/HoM we would get 2-3 relics per zone clear (this was raiding practically every night mind you).

Its not until IP that it seems like a single mob will drop one every other kill if not more.

You guys are just having bad luck then. Doing all of NDHK and not seeing a relic is pretty bad.

Steel cleared it a couple nights ago and got 3 relics. That isnt that uncommon.

The random number generator is indeed, random.

Does Tarlisha in cata still drop relics as well?

She used to be a fun way to grind aas and snag some goodies along the way.

Honestly I'd reccomend the frozen guys in SE over all of dhk. Regardless of rate, they were always the kindest to us with regard to relics. Like very very kind.

Out of curiosity, how many names were killed to yield three relics?

Cillzaia, Aanshlav, Nartalzia, Lady Leskala, Skywatchers, Advisor Zerkotah, and Empress Penerlia.
