Manually change eqhost.txt in your game directory to read as follows:

Code:
[Registration Servers]
{
"72.55.164.91"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"72.55.164.91:5997"
}

I changed the eqhost.txt files with this..[Registration Servers] { "72.55.164.91" } [Login Servers] { "72.55.164.91:5997"}

and when i go to log in now i get an error 1010 and "it says no host was found. check that the eqhost.txt exists in the the Game directory..

please help if you can.

I am not able to connect either, I dont know if the server is still officially down or not. I am gettin this error right now, however.

Ok i've tried pasting that in and i'm still not connecting, this was in there to start with
[Registration Servers]
{
"72.55.164.91"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"72.55.164.91:5997"
}
and I'm running xp pro 64 bit.

i followed the steps listed above, and still get the 1001 error 'cant connect to login server' when i attempt to log in.

i am running XP pro sp2, just setup a clean install today following the tutorial posted by lynnettell. i have also checked basic things like firewall to make sure its not blocked, etc. I am launching from the patcher directly inside the game folder, and have edited my eqhost file for the new server info.

any suggestions?

* while waiting, i have also tried with the firewall disabled entirely, and tried using the manual patch files. still same problem. i think i will investigate ports next.
