Ratio vs Attack

I am a tier 5 Beastlord and I have been focusing pretty heavily on raising my attack now that my other stat buffs are maxed while buffed. Recently, I acquired a Predator Hide Whip and the ratio is .8. This ratio is far better then any Hand-to-Hand weapon I have currently. I have been using Hand-to-Hand weapons because they raise my attack. My question is, as a Beastlord, (and I guess as any melee class), should I stick with the much better ratio weapon or focus on my hand to hand weapons because they raise my attack. The attack difference is substantial. If I use my two best non-hand-to-hand weapons vs my best two hand-to-hand weapons it lowers my attack by about 800 points. I'm just trying to get the most out of my DPS for my guild.

So, in a nutshell, ratio vs attack.

Any advice on this matter would be helpful. Thank you in advance.

I am interested in this answer too. One thing that I noticed is that of the top 5 Beastlords, only one (Sazir) has a h2h weapon in his primary slot. Assuming that these guys know what they are doing, the attack difference is not enough to cause them to equip a h2h weapons.

I just got a Fist of Solid Ice, so I have bagged the denos staff for now, but I really need to determine which weapon set is optimal for dps. I plan to parse when i get around to it.

not only do you lose attack by swapping, you also lose some hit chance due to the lower skill rating, parsing a few months ago when i was in a similar situation as you it seemed that losing the +10 h2h (from natural skill/MQ aug) made me miss 2-4% more often depending on the mobs.

Really the best way to tell is parse it on something and see, if the ratio really is that much better, then losing the atk is probably worth it.

Also losing 800 attack? sounds like you dont have your weapon skills maxed or you added an extra 0 by accident, i only lose ~75 by not using a h2h.

Kind of a side issue, but using a 1hs whip as a class that has effectively zero 1hs skill is probably not a good idea, whatever the ratio may be.
I LoL'd

I thought this was gonna be 1hb/2hb/pierce/2hpierce VS h2h.

So far I appreciate the help.
Trying to stay on topic, before this turns into a "dude, a 1hs, wtf!" thread. if I use my piercers or my 1hb, (skills are maxed in these) I have similar results.

As stated in the OP, in a nutshell, attack vs ratio. Is it worth it to sacrifice attack to a superior ratio weapon.

I checked the wiki but it doesn't list maximum... Do beastlords cap in piercing and 1hb lower than h2h? That may be another thing to take into consideration as well. Not just attack and ratio, but weapon skill cap...if they do cap differently.

1HS caps at 0, which is why he was losing 800 atk. It's an item that a BST could equip to the waist, not really something he could use as a weapon.

h2h caps at 250 and the BST MQ charm has another +5 (and there are a bunch of gloves with +10/15), while pierce/1hb/2hb cap at 245 so most 65 bst will always have at least +10 h2h over any weapon skill.

That depends on the ratio/stat difference, I would download a parser and check it out unless its just some huge difference. I dont know of any easy formula to figure out whats best, like comparing DWing vs 2hander.
